Appropriate Wedding Dress for a 52 year old bride

Fawn, on July 8, 2012 at 9:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I have been having a heck of a time finding a dress. I was looking for something on the sophisticated side that is age appropriate. I think this dress may be the one but I am still a little nervous about it. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks so much.

I like it alot. Speaks Sophistication. I think it would be age appropriate, but you won't know until you try it on

Try it on and see how you feel in it. If you feel good, go for it!

52 doesn't mean grandma anymore. I know some women in their 50s who can work it better then some in their 20s and 30s.

Age is just a number. One of the "youngest" people I know is my grandma. She's 86, and when I call to go see her it's like, "Oh, I'm sorry hon, I have my quilt guild" or "I have water aerobics". It doesn't matter if you're 20, 30, 50, or 90. If it makes you feel good, do it and screw what anyone else thinks!

I love that dress! Looked at it myself and would have tried it on but didn't think I had the body to carry the satin off. I say if you look good in it, wear the heck out of it coming from a bride who just turned 49 and will be 50 when I get married!

The 'appropriate' dress for you is the same as any other bride, it's a dress that makes you feel beautifual and comfortable. So go try on a bunch of dresses and send us pics!

WOW! Love it! I am a recent bride, and I'm 47. I understand how you feel. I ended up making my own dress. I couldn't find anything I liked that I could afford. Go try it on and let us see some pics!

I'm 45 and just under a year married. The only dresses I think are too 'young' are the ones with sheer bodices...although I think they're pretty tacky for anybody! If you look good in that dress and it makes you feel gorgeous, then go for it! That dress is elegant and sophisticated--it'll flatter your shape without looking like you're hanging out all over the place. Honestly, I think it's perfect! Try it on and see how it makes you feel! Good luck!

I think that is great. I think anything you like would be great as long as it doesn't show too much cleavage. (but I'd feel like that even if you were 28)

Recent 50 year old bride here, age is simply a number. You don't look your age.

That dress is gorgeous and there is no category for us old tart brides. ; )

Because I don't look good in white or ivory, and we had a fall wedding, I chose a BM dress from Alfred Angelo. I added the bolero. It had a great sweep train.
