Any Brides Adding a Disney Touch?

Victoria and Ralph, on March 3, 2014 at 10:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 40

FH and I love Disney. Our first date was in Magic Kingdom, we currently live in Orlando and are both cast members, and we got engaged in Magic Kingdom. While we can't afford a Disney Wedding, we still want to have some Disney touches in our wedding.

A few things we're including- our guest book is going to be themed after the Adventure Book from "Up," and our card box is going to be a mailbox modeled after Carl and Ellie's in "Up" as well.

What Disney touches are you adding/did you add to your wedding?

We love Beauty and the Beast so we're thinking of having roses under a dome as our centerpieces (which actually fits with our Gothic theme anyway).

For our wedding social (Manitoba tradition -- fundraising party before the wedding), which is a Halloween social, we're dressing up as Belle and the Beast, too.

We're also having hidden Mickeys at our wedding.

I LOVE the idea of hidden Mickeys! Where will they be @winnipegwriter?

@Mara, that sounds so cute! If we didn't live here already it would definitely be our honeymoon, but all we want to do is lay on a beach now!

I also wanted to have my wedding at a Disney Park but couldn't afford it. I am doing a fairy tale theme. I haven't found anything Disney reference to add yet.

Our cake toppers are a disney precious moment's figurine and we are having disney love songs play during dinner hour. We also have the wedding mouse ears to wear in a couple photos. I'm a huge Disney addict. My father gave me the option of having a small wedding in Disney, but I wanted a big one at home.

I'm getting married at the Disneyland Hotel and we are actually doing a storybook theme with each part of the wedding having a different "story".

So our ceremony is Tangled themed, with lanterns and tangled branches, our cocktail hour is Aladdin themed and our reception is Beauty and the Beast themed.

Love all the creative Disney touches people think of putting into their weddings!

I am buying my dress from the Alfred Angelo Disney collection, and my flower girls will be wearing Disney Blossoms dresses from the collection. Our theme is 'fairy tale, happily ever after'. Our card box is going to be a Cinderella carriage inspired. (pic below) I'm sure I'll add more subtle smaller touches, but that is all for now!

We're having a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding. I picked a venue that was gold with lovely chandeliers (it reminds me of the ballroom in the movie) and we have dark blue for the wedding party attire and red roses as accents (bouquets and centerpieces). I'll be walking down the aisle to Jim Brickman's version of Beauty and the Beast. We also have books as table markers, a card box that looks like a giant book and our cake will look like stacked books.

We have fairy tale themed wedding invitations (not specifically any disney movie). and I have ideas for pictures that I want of my FH and myself that are based off of some of the disney princesses.

I'm also trying to convince my FH to have our first dance as A Whole New World (a special song for us) or So Close (from Enchanted).

lol I LOVE disney and I want to feel like a princess so our whole wedding is filled with disney princess references, speficially beauty and the beast which is my favourite. <3

My dress is a "Belle" dress from Alfred Angelo. I am thinking of having by hair in a partial updo with 3 small buns that will create a hidden Mickey. I am going to have Disney love songs during the prelude to the ceremony.

We are going to Disney World for our honeymoon. Victoria, do you know if Mickey's Christmas Party is usually held on Sundays? We are flying into Orlando on a Sunday (the day after the wedding). I was thinking that if it is held on Sundays, I would plan to go to that instead of using a ticket day on a less than full day. Also, if you had to choose would you do the Spirit of Aloha OR the Hoop de Doo Review? I am leaning towards the Spirit of Aloha because I am thinking it will be easier to get to.

I'm doing a vintage kind of wedding but adding beauty and the beast to it. I'm thinking of doing the roses under the dome, having mirrors as table numbers, the guestbook will say be our guest. I am undecided between candelabras as centerpieces or the flower dome thing. I'm also thinking of having Be Our Guest played while the food is being served.

Everyone's ideas are so great! They all sounds adorable!

Theresa- Magic Kingdom will occasionally hold a Christmas Party on Sunday, but they don't have set days when they do them, they are usually pretty spread out throughout the week though! Definitely keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog for the dates to be announced because some days will sell out fairly quick.

If there isn't a party, there is still plenty to do around the resorts that does not involve going to the parks. Many resorts offer boat rentals, and there are also Disney "Senses" Spas across property. Some resorts will also do special fireworks cruises for EPCOT or Magic Kingdom fireworks where a driver takes you out on a pontoon boat to a special viewing location. Downtown Disney is a great place to visit for a half day, it hosts many stores, restaurants, and entertainers across. It also has a really fun bowling alley, Splitsville, La Nouba, a cirque de soleil show, and a dine in movie theater!

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Hoop de Doo. I love barbecue style food, and think the show is a hoot. I have heard great things about both shows though, so don't be dissuaded from seeing Spirit of Aloha. Something to keep in mind though, there is no bus to get from one resort to another, but any park will have a Disney provided mode of transportation to any resort. When I go to Hoop de Doo, I usually go to Magic Kingdom that day, and then take a boat over to Fort Wilderness. The Polynesian is a little easier because of it's monorail access, but I just love the boat rides! I'm sure your honeymoon will be amazing! Definitely tell everyone that you are celebrating, make notes on all of your reservations, and wear "Just Married" pins. It will make your trip that much more special!

Also, Future Mrs Laguna, have you considered mixing between candelabras, roses, and books maybe? I feel like those would all look amazing together and would definitely add to your vintage feel!

I am pushing for the first dance song to be "so close" from enchanted. It's a beautiful song.
