About
The Green Hanger Shop.com is an online "eco-boutique" for buying and selling beautiful, handpicked clothing. This is the connection for buyers and sellers of pre-owned "wore it once" items.  Sellers submit ads of designer dresses, wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and other wedding attire for a small listing fee.  Buyers have the advantage of buying beautiful designer dresses for far less than the retail price.  Both buyer and seller benefit. We call it the Green Hanger because we believe the Earth benefits from the reuse, renew, recycle principle practiced by our clients.  We’re "saving the Earth one dress at a time"!

Please elaborate on why your company is an eco-friendly business.
Our company's desire is to reduce the carbon footprint of a couple's wedding by assisting the bride, along with her family and friends, in buying or selling their wedding gown and attire. We also commit ourselves to green practices in every thing we do as part of the company. We operate the company from a home office where we conserve energy, avoid paper usage, use PCW paper when needed, and reuse
products as much as possible. There is no unnecessary or excessive travel in our company, and we have pledged to incorporate carbon offsetting as we continue to grow the company.

Tips and Advice
We speak from experience when we encourage brides to consider preowned wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.  Most gowns are handled very gently and worn for only a few hours for the portrait, wedding, and reception.  Conscientious brides (or their mothers!) have the dress professionally cleaned right after the ceremony, leaving very little wear or tear on the dress.  Preowned dresses usually sell for 50-60% of their retail price and may also save the buyer the expensive alterations cost.  If you are considering the preowned way, I would simply advise you to do the following.
♦ Know your measurements and compare them to the seller’s measurements.  Include bust, waist, hips, and height (including shoes)
♦ Ask to see pictures on the bride, not a model.  If it has been worn there should be plenty of pictures available from many angles and lighting.  If it has not been worn, the seller should put it on and provide as many pictures as you need.
♦ Try to avoid a "sale final" arrangement, if possible, but also understand that the seller goes to much trouble to ship a dress and may have to charge you to clean it again if it is returned.
♦Pay securely for your dress, so that if something goes wrong, you may appeal to the paying agent.
Don’t let these precautions deter you in buying preowned.  Keep in mind, bridal salons sell their dresses as a final sale, and you have to wait months for them to arrive with little idea of how the dress will actually fit.
Enjoy planning for your special day by saving hundreds of dollars on a beautiful dress!  Happy hunting!
