Sugar Bowl Resort is located in Norden, California, a few miles from Truckee Ca. We are a historic alpine resort perched on top of Lake Tahoe’s Donner Summit. This picturesque venue built in 1939 is equally beautiful in the summer as it is in the winter and comes with amazing gourmet food, unique landscape and expert staff.

Facilities and Capacity
Couples can accommodate up to 300 guests at one of Sugar Bowl Resort’s with many indoor and outdoor options. The Village Lodge and large deck offer gorgeous mountain views, beautiful sunsets and a well-manicured lawn for you and your guests.Enjoy dinner and dancing under the stars on the oversized deck and extended after party in the Belt Room Bar. Treat your guests to a ride up the Disney Chair Lift for a mountain top cocktail hour while taking in expansive views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and framing truly unique photos. Allow our culinary team to pamper you and your guests with delicious food to honor your day. For smaller affairs, we are pleased to also offer intimate Lake Mary for a unique and private ceremony, rehearsal dinner or play day aside a pristine high alpine lake. For those looking for a mountain meadow atmosphere we offer our Meadow Weddings at Royal Gorge for up to 200 guests. Frame your day with our indoor/outdoor Scandanavian sytle tent. These beautiful structures play perfectly agains the natural beautiy of the Sierras.

Sugar Bowl is THE Mountain Venue
And I can't say thank you enough for Lisa (venue manager) and Sarah who helped us leading up to the wedding weekend and day of the wedding. Such great communication and make you feel so special. They helped with all the little details and coordinated with our planner and other vendors to make sure everything went smoothly. Lisa helped us from giving a tour of the venue, to choosing dinner selections, drinks, activities - she wore many hats and was so easy to work with. We're truly thankful for her and her team.
Sugar Bowl is also away from the tourist trap of Tahoe during the summer peak season (around 40 minutes from Lake Tahoe), so it's the perfect location for your guests to escape from the crowds but still get that Sierra mountain experience. Highly recommend Sugar Bowl as a venue! Beautiful, convenient, and the people here were such a pleasure to work with and are SO kind. And multiple guests came up to us saying it's one of the best weddings they've been to ;)
The perfect wedding
Lisa, the Weddings and Special Events Manager. She answered every phone call, text, email in timely manner and was very communicative throughout the months leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding, she made the entire night run so smoothly. We honestly would not ask for a better evening.
The food and beverage staff were phenomenal. All of our guests were so impressed with the food and the drinks. The bartender Bob also made it very special for our guests. He created delicious and unique drinks that all of the guests really enjoyed.
Overall our wedding at Sugar Bowl was so unique, fun, and everything we ever envisioned on our wedding day. Everyone always says “something will go wrong on your wedding” and I can easily say absolutely nothing went wrong thanks to SB staff and especially thanks to Lisa! I highly recommend working with this team to make all of your wedding dreams come true!

Sugar Bowl is one of the most beautiful wedding locations I have ever shot at. The scenery and landscapes are breath taking! On top of that Meghon, Amanda and the staff are very helpful, organized, and friendly. They make everything run smoothly and seamlessly so that you dont have to stress about anything. I love how the team works with all the other vendors to make sure the wedding is perfect for the couple!
