Describe your DJ style:
Very laid back and classy. I'm not cheesy and I rarely play songs like the chicken dance, YMCA, and the Macarena unless my clients ask me to. I also don't talk on the mic for no reason. Some DJs love to hear themselves talk but I believe in "less is more."
What is your usual attire?
Formal black tuxedo with a black shirt and black long tie. No glitter vests or crazy top hats...
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
No way! I'll be sure to have the correct versions of the songs they request.
How many other DJs do you work with?
None...It's just me so you get personal attention every time.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Any length of time is fine with me. My pricing is a flat-rate fee for the night.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely! It's rare that I book a couple without meeting them first. I truly believe that when hiring a DJ it's very important to find someone that clicks with your personality. The only real way to know if I'm the right fit for a wedding is to sit down with me face to face.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Of course, and the thing that's different about me is that I include all of the equipment needed to make an event sound good. This means I usually set up more than just two speakers to achieve the best sound.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
I offer full event lighting design. Check out my website for examples.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
I usually need about two hours to set up and test all of my equipment. Most clients have the venue provide a table that's draped to match the room but I always bring tables just in case.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
Nothing out of the ordinary. All of my equipment fits on one standard 6 foot banquet table so I just need enough room to stand behind it. My speakers are very compact so they'll usually fit just about anywhere in a room.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I emcee all of my events. I have a background in radio so I'm very comfortable being the spokesperson at an event. I don't talk unnecessarily though. Guests aren't at an event to hear me talk but they usually need an emcee to help guide them through the events of the evening.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Nope. I usually don't have time to eat at events with all of the things going on so I tell my clients not to include me in their meal count. I also feel it's unprofessional for the emcee to eat in front of the guests. Just my personal opinion.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes, I network with other local DJs and have agreements set-up with them just in case something were to happen.
What is your overtime rate?
I don't charge anything for overtime. My fee is simply for the entire night.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Depends on how far I'm traveling. If it's within a couple of hours from me then I don't usually need anything for travel. I've done several out of the area weddings and I usually just charged a little for mileage and a room to spend the night after the event.
