Never book a DJ you have never met in person or interviewed on the phone.  DJ's are about reception style and PERSONALITY.

Know who your DJ will be before you sign the contract.  If the DJ company you choose has more than one DJ, be sure to have a clause in the contract that allows you to get a full refund if the agreed upon DJ suddenly becomes unavailable.

Do not hire a DJ until you are completely confident that he or she is the right DJ for you.  The entertainment is too important to spend the rest of your planning process worrying if you hired the right DJ.  You will know when you have found the right DJ.
