Xbox themed wedding?

Victoria, on September 23, 2012 at 11:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I know there are a lot of video gamers out there. Do you think there is a way we could do an Xbox themed wedding? I'm assuming I'd mix elements of some of the favorite video games we have, as well as some unusual elements from the top picks.

Show me your Xbox creativity!!!

While we didn't do an XBox themed wedding, we did have the Master Chief (s) on our cake. We played a lot of Halo 2 & Halo 3 online while getting to know each other. lol It had special meaning to us...only the gamers that attended our wedding "got" it! lol

I'd also make the invites look like the Xbox live "join game" screen for a favorite game and have the RSVP card reflect whether or not they're willing to join the "game". You could have Xbox colors, give a nod to gamer terms ( e.g.: "red ring of death") in your vows and programs, etc. Have music be from game soundtracks, etc. What are some of your fave games?

Your fellow Brides are all showing you GREAT pictures for your inspiration board for this wedding. If its something you both are passionate about I say go for it! (I especially loved the video game case as an invitation idea)

Your tables could be named after your favorite games (try to abbreviate their names if they are gory titles)

Green/Gray/Black could be your colors so basically charcoal with a green accent. Laser lights on the dance floor. etc etc

I'm kinda excited to see pics once you're married!

And also, a SUPER budget friendly way to really spruce up a reception space without a lot of money is just to colorwash the room (use uplighting) If you went with that as your main design piece, it also gives an air of future times which plays into video games a lot better than draped walls or large floral arrangements.

It also might be cute to do your sweet heart table with video game chairs (if your dress allows for this)

    Sorry, I'm rambling a bit!

We're not theming the whole wedding, but we have little gamer touches like this handmade cake topper of our avatars from xbox live!

@Kayla--My FH is a COD fan and I'm currently into Skyrim. But some of the all time favorites are Mario and Zelda (of course). I also like Fable and he's really into Borderlands right now lol

@Mrs S and Tiedaknot--I'm just kind of trying to get a feel of what we want. Honestly, I'm more of a book person and he's the gamer. So maybe I'll combine the two! I just want to figure out which direction I want it to go in. So, Xbox is kind of my way of including him in the wedding planning process lol

@Gray & Associates-- Please continue rambling, I'm enjoying all of the good ideas you're putting out there!
