Would you be mad if your friend chose same wedding day as you?

AnnaKay, on October 29, 2016 at 11:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 92

Hey guys. So I have a friend that chose the same wedding date as me. Even though it is a year difference I did tell her that there was a 75% we would get married same date in 2017. She just got engaged about two week ago and I have been engaged since Christmas 2015 and chose the same damn date. Wtf Am I being petty for feeling some type of way?

You get to then celebrate anniversaries on the same date? Sounds cool to have that kind of bond with a friend. Since it isn't the actual same day, I'm not sure why you are upset.

Yes, you're being petty. You do not own that date. ETA: It would be different if it was the EXACT same day, but its not.

Leave it alone. It's a year apart and not a big deal. Just my honest opinion.

That is ridiculous. You get one day, not one day forever.

If it's a year a part it shouldn't be a big deal. Be flattered if anything.

Why would this be an issue? I don't get why you'd be mad at your friend for setting their date a YEAR away from yours.

If it's a year apart, I do not see the big deal, whatsoever. How fun to share an anniversary!!

That's a random day to choose so I don't understand why she would pick the same date if you already mentioned. You can't stake claim on a day forever though. You don't have to attend her wedding if you don't want to because it will be on your 1st anniversary and that is a legitimate excuse to not go.

It's a year apart, what is the issue? My friend is doing the EXACT same date as me. I could have been petty about it but I'm not. It is what it is.

Honestly, that might irritate me a little. But I'd be over it in about five minutes. Nothing to get worked up over for sure.

I wouldn't be mad if it's a year apart. Look at it as a form of flattery.

Thanks guys. I was feeling upset because FH and I were going to move our date up to 2017 instead of 2018. Been talking about it a lot lately . On the other hand would be pretty cool to have someone to share Anniversary with.

I don't think you're being petty. I can see why you'd be upset. But at the same time, not sure it's worth losing a friend over.

I'm with @FTDA...I think it would be kind of fun to share an anniversary with a close friend. Sounds like an excuse for couples trips!

@Bethany A not super upset like I will be ending my friendship with her. We are still good friends. I'm just thinking man I might as well leave my date to 2018 and everything will work out.
