Worried I Won't pay my wedding on time :(

Jeannette, on April 20, 2012 at 12:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

So i was going through the balance of the wedding expenses. And is a high monthly payment that i would have to make in order to pay everything off on time. That does not include the Food. My Dress or his tuxedo!!... I do not know what to do at this point. I just feel like canceling everything. Smiley sad

Is there a way you can either push the date back or make some changes?

This is one of the many reasons why people need to plan and budget for a wedding that they can afford.

Your wedding isn't until December so you should have plenty of time to cut back on things to lower your monthly payment. I would be more than happy to help you figure ways to do this. Feel free to shoot me a message if you're interested! :o)

Well this Wedding was planned last year. My fiancee got laid off and is now in the process of getting a new job. I was not expecting this. So that is why I'am worried. Of course I have a budget i never go higher then what i can afford.

Can you get a second job? I am a bar tender at night to help pay for the excess cost our "normal" jobs can't pay for. Just be glad you realized it now instead of 1 month beforehand.

He needs to get a job- any job. I assume he is getting unemployment benefits. Look where you can make cuts- cell phone bill, cable package, even a small/cheaper car if you have to.

Many people do get second jobs or find odd ways to make money. Sell unused items on eBay/Craigslist. Mow lawns or babysit.

I know a girl who was hired to write papers for students and funded her wedding almost entirely doing it! I'm not advocating that, because it's cheating. However, there are ways to make extra money out there.

Im freaking a bit too. Just cut cocktail hr, and decided we are not having a b list of guests if some cant come we arn't replacing them with our not as close friends.

Bentley's medical bills were over a grand, and the entire wedding is less than 10 grand. Might end up putting some on my line of credit.

I am feeling like that too. We will probably have to wait to go on a honeymoon, as that is our biggest expense that we are having and issue with. We are trying to cut back on certain things and go the cheapest way possible. Good luck!@

Try not to worry Jeanette and I think so many of us brides on here worry about that very same thing. Just try to be cautious on what you're spending and cut out things that you can do with out (extras) it will work out. The biggest thing is the guest list that's what will make your bill skyrocket.

I was just freaking out about the same thing. FH picked up a part time (2nd job) and I am doing the same. It should cover the remaining balances, if not...we will just cut some things. Good luck...

Our budget is only $7500. We didn't think we would be able to get married next year b/c hubby's job wasn't paying very much and we are having our second little girl in August. I also have to start paying back school loans in August as well, but thankfully hubby got a better job that pays a lot more. I am doing several things at home to make extra cash to set aside for our wedding. I do surveys, clixsense, and use a site called chacha.com. I also sell anything that I don't need anymore.

Cut what bills you can and do a lot of DIY things if you can. I am doing my own bouquets, center pieces, and my sister is helping with my flower girl dresses, and table cloths. I am doing my own invites and doing partial self catering.

Definetly important to be honest with yourself. Run the best case and worst case scenarios and then recognize that you may fall somewhere in the middle. We went overbudget on our wedding a little, now we are getting some guests declines which is saving some money. I decided I absolutely had to have flowers and apparently lots of them (sigh) so we adjusted the budget by only renting our venue (ski lodge) for 3 nights instead of 4. It's a balancing act. Also be honest with your FH and let him shoulder some of the budget stress.

I joke with FH that if he gets a nice bonus then the wedding will be payed off before we get married and we can contemplate getting some housework done while we are on the honeymoon, if he doesn't get any bonus at all then it'll all be payed off at the end of July and the bathroom won't get a facelift til the fall(we don't mind if some of the funding has to float on a credit card for a few months, I respect and applaud others that feel differently)
