Who's paying for their own wedding?

I think just to show a few ladies who think it's their parents responsibility to pay exactly how many of us are paying, everyone who is paying for their own wedding should comment here.

ETA: Because I forgot that people on the internet take offense to things that are not about them. This site is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yesterday I had the most stressful wedding planning day to date. I get online and the first post I read is titled "who pays". While reading through the comments, I come across a girl who is upset that her father refuses to pay even though he is financially able. She sounded like an entitled brat. She then commented that she really doubted the majority of us were paying on our own. This "rubbed me the wrong way" I started this post to prove a point that the majority of us are in fact paying on our own. I am in no way trying to shame those fortunate enough to have family help. Nor do I think I am better because I don't.

We are. My mom bought me my dress and my in laws are hosting the rehearsal dinner. Other than that, we are paying, including our honeymoon. We are having a NYE wedding and a 250 guest list.

We are! I'm using my mom's dress and just changing it a little. I'm also doing a ton of DIY.

My parents are paying for a little more than half, his parents are paying some, and we are paying the rest and for our honeymoon.

We are paying for most of it. I am my mother's only child and still in graduate school so she wanted to help. Plus she's amazing Smiley smile Our venue included most of the things we need (DJ, some decorations, food) and came out to a little over $11k, she paid $5k and is getting the alcohol. The rest was on us (officiant, attire, invitations, remaining decorations, honeymoon, etc.) And FH's mom offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner.

We are. My parents offered, but we are both in our mid-late thirties and it just didn't seem right. His father is deceased and I don't think his mother is in the position to offer. In fact, his brother has offered to cover the rehearsal dinner. The only thing I let my parents pay for was my dress, and that's because it was so important to them to go with me and buy it for me. I'm an only child and they've been waiting for this day longer than I have, lol!

We are paying for most of ours. His parents and my dad said they wanted to contribute to something so I'm letting them decide what they want to contribute to!

We are! We have our finances separate so separated each cost of the wedding. But my dad randomly gave us some money for the wedding which was a surprise to us so we're using it towards our honeymoon! Nowadays the tradition of the bride's parents paying for it all doesn't really happen and I don't feel like its realistic.

We didn't expect anyone to pay for us and we didn't want anyone to because we didn't want anyone else's input towards the wedding.

Who cares who is paying for what for someone else's wedding. Paying for your own wedding doesn't make your wedding any more important than the next. I'm paying for my wedding just to show I'm not partial to my oppinion for any particular reason. I just don't feel as though it's anyone's business to ask. Why do you care? I could careless if susie Jone's dad is paying for her wedding. If they got it like that then great!

My parents are divorced and don't really care for each other. When FH and I got engaged, my parents had a discussion and decide to split the cost of our wedding budget. I didn't expect them to do that but I am appreciative that they are.

My parents my fh parents and my fh and I are all contributing. We would have eloped, but they want a wedding. I admit now after planning I have gotten more and more excited about a wedding... so it's a family effort.

Yup. And we ultra budgeted. By Daughter's FG dress is beautiful and can be worn on any special occasion (in the next 6 months because let's face it, kids grow too fast) and cost $30, flowers were $60 (making all arrangements myself) dress and alterations $500, venue $50 (and unbelievable). My kiddo is taking pictures and we're strapping a GoPro to the dog for video). FH suit was $180 (TY coupons to men's warehouse). Granted I'm 38 so my dream wedding tastes have changed a lot since my 20's. I prefer to pay for everything myself because I don't like to hurt people's feelings and now I don't have to feel obligated to give in to their wishes. Keep on keepin on, ladies and gents!
