Ceremony venue! We got married in an 1800s church and it is in my family’s hometown. The reception we had to do a lot of research.

One of our must haves was to have the ceremony and reception at the same location so people wouldn't have to travel, so it was both at the same time!

That's a really common thought! It's nice that your guests won't have to travel from your ceremony space to your venue!

Yes I did know .... I only want a 4 hour wedding with the ceremony and the reception flowing right into each other so it would make sense to have them at the same place

Thank you! Actually no, it was between a few different churches. One I was baptized in and both of my sisters got married there and another was the mission, my husband loved the mission. We ended up going with this one because it’s cost was less and we loved the inside more than the other two places...

Technically the reception venue, but my priest asked the day after I was engaged if he could marry us and if we wanted to have it in the church - both were an automatic yes from us. So he told me to let him know the date I got from our choice of reception venues and it would be ours as no one else in the church was engaged and we generally dont do weddings for people with no connection to the church so as a very active member (I'm in the choir) I would get my choice even if someone from outside asked for it first. (He also wont book anyone not a member more than a couple months out - just long enough to complete the required pre-marital counselling, and people who are related to a member but not a member or former member - aka raised there but moved away as an adult and switched to a local to them church - get a few more months ahead of that where he will take a booking but we will be engaged for 3 years by our date and booked the reception 2 years out so there was no chance of anyone else taking the date. Also we have not been asked to pay anything for the church - we will pay cost for candle oil, communion, etc and then a donation based on what we can afford for the building, priest, and organist plus any music that needs to be purchased (choir will be singing too but also all guests cause we are all friends). I'm in the calendar and we have started talking music and readings already though and I'm on the flowers calendar so I can leave my altar arrangements there for services the next morning.
