    I wanted them at the same place so that is what I was looking for as I checked out venues. We found the perfect setting for both!

    Reception space first. They had a ceremony space "available," (even though we didn't really care for it) so in the event that our ceremony space didn't work out or we didn't find one we liked, we at least had that on lockdown. The reception venue was the more in-demand venue anyway.

    Although they are at the same venue, I would say reception happened first because we were hopping to get married at our church but when we were told no (living together already) we started planning to have the ceremony at our reception venue.

    Haven't gotten either yet. We know were we want the reception, but trying to find a church to marry us as non members has been impossible.
