where are you staying your wedding night?

Amber, on August 7, 2011 at 12:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 33

Just wondering what everyone is planning on doing that night. I was told to get a hotel room because people usually play pranks on your house. FH wants to stay at home and not spend the extra money, especially since we're going on our honeymoon the next week. I would like to get a hotel room.

We're getting married in NY state and are from NJ. So we're getting a room up there. And we're paying for the rooms for our bridal party.

Why would people play pranks on your house? Never heard of that before.

The hotel that I am using for my guests offers free room for the bridge and groom.

Oh no! I totally forgot about the pranks. My Dad and aunts and uncles all did horrible pranks. We're getting married back home in another state so our house is totally up for grabs! Boo!

To answer your question, we'll be staying at a nicer hotel (for a great price) not too far from our reception. Since we're getting married three states away, it's either a hotel or Mom's or grandma's house. Hotel it is!

Yeah, im almost positive we will fall victim to the pranks. my mom and her friends are the towns professional T-P'ers. forget the high school students, her and her crew are masters. i just need to make a good argument to FH so we can get a hotel room. they're not that expensive, he just doesn't see a reason to do anything special.

Our reception venue includes a free night for us with our package; we are also going to stay sunday night there too, for the rate they are giving our guests.

We are going home that night. I asked him if he wanted to get a room, and he thought it may be more romantic at home (I call BS...I think he just wants to save money). We are leaving 30 hours later for our honeymoon, so we will have plenty of romance time.

Our family doesn't do pranks, but my Mom does set up the room with candles, champagne, fruit, etc just as a nice thing to do....b/c she's a sweetheartSmiley smile

Kara - I think she means the night after you're married. I would hope a couple is staying together that night, lol. I guess I could be wrong though!

We went back to our apartment. We were leaving for our honeymoon the next night and I didnt feel like spending the money. Our wedding night wasn't very eventful. LOL. I changed like no one's business and showered. Then we opened all our cards and read them. Then we went to bed. Yeah, we're that exciting. =]

Sarah---that's actually very common! I cannot tell you how many couples I know that just relaxed that night.

We haven't decided yet but will probably stay in a hotel. FH travels frequently for work and always has a couple free nights at some hotels. We'll probably just use one of those so we don't spend any extra money.

I don't think anyone in my family will prank our house since FILs will be staying at our house. Hopefully, anyway! Smiley smile

Most likely a hotel. Our wedding is going to be out of town.

We stayed at the same house with all our guests, though in a separate unit. Then again, we had a very small group of attendees, and were confident none of them were the prank-playing type. Going home would not have been an option, since we got married in Massachusetts and live near DC.

Haven't decided yet, but I think we'll probably just stay home. Gotta save the money!

FH wants to just go home but I think that we should get a room for that night because it is a special night.

We are staying at the lodge where we are getting married. Our house will be full of relatives. We offered it to them since we know money is tight. And, our wedding is an hour away from our house. I really don't think we will feel like driving anywhere after.
