Jason and I had been dating for a little over 3 years. We had talked about getting married and even went to look at rings. He kept telling me that he wanted to propose and that it would be my Christmas present. Then one night he asked how disappointed I would be if he didn't get my ring by Christmas. I was pretty bummed but I didn't want him to feel bad so I stated that it was fine because it's more important to be with him than to have a ring on my finger (which is 100% true). A few weeks later I got a text from him asking if I wanted to play Scrabble and open a bottle of wine after dinner....definitely normal for us so I didn't think anything of it. So after dinner, I set up the game board and we played a few turns. It was my turn so he got up to go check on something and when he came back and knelt down next to the couch, I thought he was messing with the dog. After he finally got my attention (what can I say...it was my turn and Scrabble is pretty competitive for us....), he asked and I, of course, said yes.
