What's your wedding planner's turnaround time for emails?

Ameline, on August 19, 2016 at 2:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I'm sure it's a busy time, but my wedding is in three weeks, and I emailed my planner on Sunday with no response yet. That is unacceptably slow, correct? I booked her and paid a deposit several months ago but am having a small wedding and had already made most decisions at that point, so there's been minimal contact since. Ugh.

She emails back day of. Sometimes with a more details or info to follow note. Then within a day or two.

Seeing as though your wedding is in 3 weeks, I would call.

With your wedding this close yes that is unacceptable! There are so many things that you may need her help with. I would go look through your contract with her and see if there is anything she is violating. Does she have a boss that you can speak with? I would call her instead of email at this point so that she can hear your voice. You are in charge. I am having the same problem with one of my vendors. I'm going to review them after my wedding and not leave anything out!

I had written my contact at my venue an email on Sunday and he just responded last night. With your wedding that close I would definitely send a follow up email and make a phone call. Good luck!

I usually get a response within the hour if not by the end of the day and I've asked some pretty stupid questions already.

Glad someone asked this! I have an event coordinator who works for the venue but she is supposed to be there "every step of the way" (in her own words). My wedding is still a year out but it takes her over a week to respond to emails. My mom said she's probably busy with current weddings and I asked "when does mine become current? A month before? A week before?" Not what I had in mind when we chose this venue. I'm not even asking a lot, one email was just one question and it took 9 days to respond. I've ended up doing a lot on my own and being stressed, which is not what I had anticipated.

My planner emails me back relatively soon. I tend to not get responses on weekends because she is busy with other brides. I would try to call her if it is something important.

From our side of the fence... if a wedding is a year away we start figuring out rough details... colors, specific flowers, styles.... then about 4 or 5 months before we really start to hammer out more specifics. Every client is different - some are SO low key that we have to reach out to THEM (Example: I FINALLY heard back from a bride whose wedding is in three weeks. Yesterday. Signed contract and everything was done..) Other clients want to do it all NOW NOW NOW a year prior. But on average - everything is finished a month out, with minor adjustments 2 weeks prior (adding a corsage... that sort of stuff)

Not a wedding planner, but for us, if it is wedding season (which it is) and your wedding is a year away it might be 72 hours. If it is longer then that there is always a reason.. like if you email us on a Friday morning? We are most likely doing weddings and breakdowns until Sunday night and Monday is the one day we have off.

    Hope that helps!

With a DC to Hawaii time difference, all of our communication has been email, not phone. I am traveling for work the next two weeks and really need people to do their freaking jobs.

I do feel as if that's a little slow.

You still shouldn't have a problem calling with that time difference. I'm used to working with multiple time zones (I have team members in India, Japan, Ireland, and the US). Sometimes you just have to wake us a little earlier or stay up a little later. It's currently 9:27 AM in Hawaii - I'm not sure which timezone you're in, but if you're in DC then that's the same as me. Try once around 5, and once at 8:30. People are generally easier to catch right before or a little after lunch. It could also help to leave a message with some times (in her time zone) that would be good to call you.

I think the absolute longest time I've waited for a response has been half an hour regardless of it being an email or text. I'd expect a response within 24 hours though.

I definitely would not have hired this planner if the initial turnaround times had been this long! FH sent a follow-up email, and if we don't hear soon, we will call.

A couple of days. But we're also a year out; we don't have much to talk about yet.

However, with a wedding as close as yours, I would call.

I would e mail her again, if no response in 24 hours. I would rethink her business. Think fast
