In MI it's 6% sales tax, and the venue/catering we went with has a 21% gratuity on anything at all requiring a service.

I'm with jet. 9% tacked onto food an beverages, nothing on anything else (not that food and beverage isn't a huge chunk of what we are paying for). A lot of places also tack on 20% service charge. My venue has all that included in the prices

Alberta baby!!! 0%. Well except for the 5% GST on stuff.

Though from time to time someone brings up the idea of provincial sales tax.

We were looking at PA venues, but when we found a great place in Delaware that was perfect for our smaller wedding and was tax free, we went for it. My wedding dress was bought in Delaware so that was tax free too. Fh lives in DE, so when I'm down visiting him,I do my shopping on items that are taxed in PA.

Something ridiculous. There's the regular state tax and then city food tax on top of it

State of Florida is 6%. Counties can add a surcharge (Sarasota is additional 1%).

Always have prices quoted in your contract with all:

    Taxes; sales, hotel, alcohol ect.

    Fees

    Tips

    service charges

Make sure that they are itemized and that they add up correctly. You as the customer can insist on changes to the contract that include this. Verbal agreements are not good.

Here in houston we have some special hotel taxes on top of 8.25 sales tax and alcohol tax

Used to be 17.5% but increased to 20% (VAT) two years ago in Scotland.

We dont have Sales Tax in the UK (or actually in the EU) it is VAT (added to everything you buy excluding some things - books, kids clothes, basic food stuff) which isnt just another name but its calculated differently and things (way to complex for my tiny brain)

    Anyway

    20%

@Ottawa2014 there's only two vendors I have which do not include the tax (photographer and videographer) so it's just over $1000 in tax which won't be an issue not including in our budget.
