What size heel are you/did you wear?

Lacey, on September 20, 2013 at 4:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

Alright, so I found the cutest shoes to go with my wedding dress. I wanted a lace-type shoe to match my lace dress. Problem is - the heel is four inches.

For work I wear 3 - 3 1/2 inch heels almost everyday. Also, I'm 5' 1/2" and my FH is 6' 1" and so the heel would help us look closer to the same height. BUT, I don't want to be a clutz and trip on my wedding day. The shoes seem like they would fit pretty snug, to help with me not tripping but I wanted to ask you all for some advice.

What size heel did you or will you be wearing? Any specific reason why you chose what you did?

I can attach pictures of the shoes and/or dress if you all would like.

Thanks!

ETA: Shoes and dress. :-)

Flats. I'm 5'9, he's 6'3. I wear heels to work every day and I'm taller than everyone. I want to be short on my wedding day.

I'm 4'11", only wearing like 1.5"-2" heels, simply because A) I'm not good at walking in taller heels, and B) anything higher seriously hurts my feet, FAST. Even with that, I'm switching the cute sandal heel that I bought for the ceremony with a bedazzled character shoe (for the arch support and comfort) for the reception, because they're the only type of heel I can comfortably wear indefinitely.

I'm looking at kitten heels and mid heels (no more than 2"). FH and I are the same height, but in order to avoid getting my lace dress hemmed, I need a small heel. When it arrives, I'll know for sure, but I'm hoping I don't need anything more than an inch.

Hard to find cute stuff though

I am wearing 5" heels for the ceremony, than wearing flats for the reception. I wear 4" heels on a semi-regular basis to work, so I think I'll be okay. I've also been wearing my wedding heels around the house to try to break them in some, which has helped make them more comfortable. Practice makes perfect!

Sarah, I'm going to be taller than my dad, too. Oops.

It's gonna be all or nothing for me.

So either flats or 3 1/2 or 4 inches. Anything in between doesn't interest me. BUT...I will continue to look.

    Mine are about 4"

I didn't really think about height I just found shoes that I fell out of. I'm not going to be taller than FH so it's all good.

If I wear heels (which is basically for work or parties) they can be between a little kitten heel and 6+” So 4” seems fine for me.

I'm wearing ballet flats. I just want to be comfortable because I love to dance.

I would think if you're used to heels, then it shouldn't be a problem to wear them for the wedding.

I would find a heel height that you typically wear.

I am wearing flats, not only do my feet not allow heels but I want to be comfortable the whole day. Not being like "Oh my god I'm smiling but IN SO MUCH PAIN"

Mallory - 6" heels scare the life out of me! :-)

Laura - Yes! I will have to practice, lots.

I think I might take your lead gals and get some reception shoes.

I am 5'3 FH is 6'3 i wear a 3.5 inch heel most of the time. I do have a pair of boots that are i think 4.5 inches. I will have three pairs of shoes for the wedding 3.5 inch heels for ceremony and some pictures, cowboy boots for pictures and flats for dancing later.

    Sarah - Modcloth! Go and buy them, they're only $45! : )

Also, I love you all but I totally banned cowboy boots from my bridal party, hahaha. Growing up in hick-town, U.S.A., I don't want country themed anything.

Oh wow, Lacey, those shoes are awesome (and of course your dress is gorgeous!). If you wear 3-3.5" heels on a day to day basis, 4" may not make that much of a difference to you. Do you wear large heels when you go out? If you do decide to go for the shoes, at least make sure you practice practice practice walking and dancing in them.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do about shoes. I like wearing heels and feel comfortable in them, but FI and I are pretty much the same height and I don't want to be taller on the wedding day.

MissMadeline - Thank you, you're too sweet. It depends on where I'm going on what shoes I wear, sometimes I wear high heels. That's why I chose a strap that goes across the top of my foot. I feel those hold my feet way better.

Thanks for the advice of practicing dancing in them!
