What kind of shoes did you wear to shop for wedding dresses?

Rae, on August 24, 2017 at 9:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 51

Sorry if this is a silly question...I'm trying on wedding dresses for the first time this weekend and I'm wondering if I should bring flats, heels, or if it even matters? I guess for my ceremony I'd wear heels but might switch to something more comfortable later? I'm not sure...haven't gotten that far in my decisions yet haha.

How exciting! If you think you may wear heels, I would wear heels dress shopping. I'm relatively tall (5'8), and if I didn't wear heels, most of the dresses would've bunched on the floor. The heels made it a little easier to picture how the dresses would look tailored to me. And have fun!

I wore mismatched running socks. I'm 5'3" and even with heels it would have all been too long. So I wore something comfortable.

I didn't wear shoes at all during my try ons. I went 100% barefoot. I figure that's what the fittings are for.

I grabbed the perfect pair of heels off a sale rack long before I started looking at dresses so I threw them in my bag when I went dress shopping. I was just barefoot until I put on a dress I really liked and the consultant grabbed a veil and belt, so I slipped the shoes on as well... the shoes definitely weren't necessary though!

I wore flip flops but went barefoot when I was actually trying dresses on.

I ended up trying on dresses in socks. I am 4'10" and I knew that heels wouldn't do a whole lot for me - every dress was going to be extremely long regardless. I didn't wear heels with my dress until I did my first fitting.

I have sparkly flat shoes that I've worn to everything wedding related and will wear to the welcome reception.

You'll end up walking around barefoot honestly. I did.

I wore flip flops but no shoes while I was trying on dresses. Typically you will stand on a pedi stool type thing so it won't matter.

I just went barefoot while trying on, until I put on the dress I bought. I tried on a few pairs of shoes they had there just to visualize. You could always take a pair of whatever type of shoe you're planning to wear with you. I knew I wanted a short dress so it wasn't as big of a deal for me.

Like others, I just wore sandals and tried on dresses barefoot. Some like to bring heels that may be similar to the height you think you may wear, but honestly it's not necessary. I'm also short, so heels or not, everything is way too long on me anyway. I would just be comfortable and worry about the shoes after you actually pick your dress.

At the place where I found my dress, they didn't allow shoes in the fitting area to keep the floor clean for the dresses. But my consultant told me to bring heels for my first fitting appointment
