What kind of shoes did you wear to shop for wedding dresses?

Sorry if this is a silly question...I'm trying on wedding dresses for the first time this weekend and I'm wondering if I should bring flats, heels, or if it even matters? I guess for my ceremony I'd wear heels but might switch to something more comfortable later? I'm not sure...haven't gotten that...

I went barefoot when I tried my dresses on. Didn't matter at that point the dress would have to be altered later anyway

My salon actually preferred you to be in bare or socked feet, so that the sample dresses had less risk of getting ripped or dirty as they're getting you in and out of them

Barefoot / flip flops. You don't need to bring heels plus you could rip a dress... you don't need heels until your fitting

Honestly, I wore flip flops on the day I bought my wedding dress. Then, once I bought the shoes I loved, I went in and tried the dress on again with the shoes (it worked perfectly)!

The main thing is to have the shoes you'll wear the day of the wedding when you go in for alterations!

No shoes. you get your dress then get your shoes and bring them to your first fitting. the shoes don't matter when shopping. Maybe wear flip flops when shopping so they're easy on/easy off.

I took wedges, but my venue had a pair of sample shoes everyone could wear. You can take whatever shoes you'll be comfortable in.

If you know you want heels you could bring a similar size heel with you just to see what it looks like (same with flats) but I didn't , I was barefoot and got alterations with my shoes

I knew I wanted to wear heels so I just wore a random pair of heels. I always like to see how dresses look when I'm in heels, because I have a hard time picturing it.

They will give you shoes if you ask, at least they did at DB. I'm sure they were trying to make a sale.

I wore sandals, but ended up kicking them off and just going barefoot. I didn't even bother looking for shoes until after I bought my dress so that I could make sure they matched!

My socks, when changing in and out of dresses didn't care to keep putting shoes on and off. I wouldn't worry about shoes until the first fitting.

Shoes are more important during fittings, so that the seamstress can hem and bustle accordingly.

While dress shopping you should wear what you are comfortable in. Even if you wear heels to get an idea of dress length, do bring along a pair of flats in case your appointment runs long and you get exhausted. Also, good luck with dress hunting!

I brought wedges in a height I'd most likely wear on the day. When trying on dresses I was barefoot, but when they took measurements to order my size I put the wedges on because they custom made the length for me so I wouldn't have to get it hemmed. Doesn't hurt to at least bring some even if you don't end up using them

I wore flip flops into the store and tried on the dresses barefoot. Quick and easy.

Lol, I had gym shoes and socks on. So obviously I tried on the dresses barefoot instead.

I'm pretty short (5'2) so I was barefoot when dress shopping. I knew I'd need alterations for the length of the dress anyway.
