What is the most expensive thing so far for your wedding??

SoontobeMrs.2017, on April 26, 2016 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 110

So this is just kinda a random post. But I called my venue yesterday and asked about possibly adding additional hours...they told me sure that will be $1,000 an hour! Soooo not sure we will be doing that. B

But I need to go into this business, they are making a killing lol

It'll probably be the venue/food for us...my dress and the photographer come in second. Followed by everything else.

Definitely the catering. $75-80/pp (menu not finalized) and $35/pp for open bar. That will make up the majority of our budget...

Vendor was definitely the most expensive My parents are contributing quite a bit...our hope is to only use the money they are giving us, but I doubt that will happen. lol Our venue is about 70% of the budget they gave us.

ETA: Our venue includes coordinator, cocktail hour, dinner, alcohol, indoor/outdoor party space and things of the sort...so a lot of bang for your buck, but still!!!

Food, thankfully we can bring our own alcohol, but it'll still be the most expensive portion of our wedding.

The venue is definitely the most expensive, but it comes with having the entire farm from 8am-midnight, a planner, decor, DJ, and a few other things. What I find crazy expensive is the florist. I guess I just didn't know how much they normally cost until I called around to get quotes.

Right now our DJ is probably going to cost the most, about $1000, but that includes a photobooth so it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Catering and rentals for sure. And that will definitely be the most expensive part of the entire wedding.

That's actually the same price for our additional hour. I asked if they would be willing to reduce it at all because we are already spending so much and they lowered it to $500 no problem!

Once it's all paid for, the food and booze will definitely be the most - about half our budget.

After that, the honeymoon. Then the photographer.

Of vendors we've paid right now, my dress is the most expensive because they wanted payment in full before ordering.

Food and drink were the majority of our costs.

I doubt they are making a killing when you figure in the costs like rent, utilities, maintenance, insurance, salaries, payroll taxes, business taxes...

Catering will be our biggest cost so I'm secretly (actually not so secretly LOL) hoping for declines to bring down that number

The venue: $13.5k with 137 guests, 6 vendors and 3 kids under 12. That includes the ceremony fee, flowers for the ceremony, food (hospitality hour, cocktail hour, 4 course dinner), open bar, tables, chairs, linens and uplighting.

Photographer topped my list, however the venues for ceremony and reception combined was the biggest cost overall(two seperate locations).

The Venue will definitely be the most, but it's fairly all-inclusive which helps.

Here are the top 4 most expensive part of our wedding:

    1. Rentals

    2. Photography and videography

    3. Venue (winery)/wine & beer

    4. Catering

Rentals were almost double anything else because we had an outdoor, bring in everything myself wedding. I got a fantastic deal on catering (we did a trendy BBQ caterer that's very popular in Lexington), and I got 10% off when I booked them after a bridal show.

Definitely our reception venue (includes catering, bar, DOC, tables/chairs, linens, flatware, etc.) Over half our budget.
