So this is just kinda a random post. But I called my venue yesterday and asked about possibly adding additional hours...they told me sure that will be $1,000 an hour! Soooo not sure we will be doing that. B But I need to go into this business, they are making a killing lol

My venue is charging an extra $750 to extend all services for an hour. I still think I'm getting a great deal because my FH and I are paying $10K for an all inclusive experience. Caterer, DJ, cake, invitations, venue, open bar is all included. The only thing we decided to exclude and find our own was the photographer. So, it's hard to say what my biggest expense was. But ladies, I'm going through Wedgewood and they are awesome!!!

Venue/food costs and photography/floral come in second. These were my top priorities so I am ok with it.

Probably food and alcohol. Food is $65 pp, and we're doing alcohol based on consumption and then bringing our own for an after party. I'm estimating $30-40 pp for alcohol.

Our venue we are spending over $ 9,000 . But then again it for 5 days and 4 nights for a huge lodge. Thanks to both our parents which has given us cash to help with the huge expense.

The reception venue. Granted, it did include our food and open bar for everyone, but we wanted to make damn sure our guests had a great meal, comfortable venue and open bar so we willingly spent the money. Our second most expensive item would've been photography with my dress and videography tying for 3rd.

Food will be the most expensive...$95/meal not incl bar items because we are offering a New England Clam Bake meal as one of the 3 plated options. Luckily I decided to ask if we selected beef and chicken meals from a cheaper food package if we could get that rate and the venue agreed! Those will be $60/plate. But who's going to pick steak tips or chicken over lobster? LOL we've been eager to get the RSVPs back so we can see what the food bill will be.

Our venue was 1/3 of the cost of our wedding. Food and booze will make up just under 1/3 and then everything else.

Our venue charged $2500 per hour to add on, so $1k doesn't sound so bad Smiley smile Venue was of course the most expensive for us as it included the meal with their in-house caterer and premium open bar. I think the next priciest thing after that was floral & rentals (these were from the same event company, so one big invoice) and then my dress.

If honeymoon counts, definitely the honeymoon! If not, the venue followed by photographer and DJ. Haven't even talked about flowers yet...that may be up there. Why are weddings so expensive?
