What are your top/bottom 5 wedding priorities?

When I first started planning I got this book on how to have a wedding for $5k (our budget is $10k so I figured I would save double lol, not so much...). When I first started planning I got this book on how to have a wedding for $5k (our budget is $10k so I figured I would save double lol, not so much...). One of the first things the book had me do was list the 5 things that are most important to me for my wedding. This helped me put certain things in perspective and not concentrate so much on how much things cost, but how much it was worth to me. I threw in the bottom 5 just for fun :-)

Here's my top 5

1- Food & Alcohol!!

2- DJ

3- Pictures

4- Location(s) with character (no hotel ballrooms)

5- Decor

Bottom 5

1- Flowers

2- Cake

3- Invitations (they're just gonna throw them away anyway)

4- Favors (MOH and I are still going back and forth over this)

5- Videography (if we can afford it, great. If not, I really don't care that much)

What about you ladies? You'll be surprised how much perspective this simple list gives Smiley smile

    Top 5:

    1. Groom (heh....)

    2. Food

    3. Band

    4. Dress

    5. Venue

    Bottom 5:

    1. Invitations

    2. Favors

    3. Linens

    4. Cake

    5. Pre-wedding events like shower, bach party, rehearsal dinner, etc.

As long as I get to marry FH, I couldn't care less what else is going on that day...but if the food is good and the band is good (and ours are both amazing), it'll be a good day. I SHOULD have put photography in my top 5...I'm regretting it already!

@Rosie: I'm with you. NotFroofy and I had to wait nine years before we could legally be married. So at the end of the day, if there was a certificate that said we were married, nothing else was going to take away our happiness.

So i really had to think about this as i know we are gonna end up with a tight budget and i stick with wat i originally told my FH

1- my FH the love of my life, family and close friends

    2- location location loctation

3- attire ( the dress, the tuxs, the BM dresses)

4- the cake and other food

    5- Pictures/video

at the bottom of my list

1- ceter pieces, flowers, ect... i am a big DIY person and i know i can make something absolutly beautiful with a little time adn effort

2- limo.. it woudl be cool but doubt it will happen atleast not if we are paying for it lol

3- open bar... prefer to have a venue where people can bring their own

4-favors i honestly have no clue where the little favors i got from weddings are at and i doubt most people keep them

5- any kind of DRAMA.. people can leave that crap at the door because i am not dealing with it

Seems like noone cares about invites that much. to me it's a waste of money cause people are going to keep them for so long then it's in the garbage as well as the favors

We funnel our funds and priorities to the stuff that will make for a fun day for our guests, and happy memories for everyone.

    1. Good food (several kinds of sliders!)

    2. Open bar

    3. Location/venue that is fun and easy to access

    4. Our friends and families feeling cared for and welcomed

    5. BUDGET!!!!

    Bottom five

    1. Limos - we skipped it.

    2. Photographer - We're going to do a photo shoot of just the two of us after the wedding, we don't want to spend our precious time with a random photographer when we could be partying with our loved ones.

    3. DJ - using an IPod.

    4. Decor - I'm sure it will look nice, but we're DIying because we'd rather have the stuff guests care about (food and drink!) vs. stuff that adds a little atmosphere but costs an arm and a leg.

    5. CLothes - My gown is from a sample sale. Ultimately, I'm the only one who really enjoys the dress, so I'd rather put the money towards stuff like food that everyone cares about.

    2. Limo (Although I really want to have one so that the driver can stop at our favorite sushi place and we can run in- in full wedding attire- to grab some sushi. I just thought that would be too fun, but it's not going in my top 5)

    3. Favors (We're giving a donation to Susan G. Komen)

    4. Videographer

    5. Save the Dates
