What are you going to have your guests do during dinner to have you kiss?

Tapping of the glasses? Tell a funny story of either you or FH? Or something else?

I wanted bells, but they wont match the table decor, so it'll just be glass clinking, though FH suggested that as it starts to get annoying, WE start clinking and demanding other people to kiss- like parents and grandparents LOL- and I think we actually will

Nothing. I am not a damn puppet and I certainly don't need anyone telling me when to kiss my man. I think that is the dumbest thing.

We are having people stand up & quote movies...we are movie buffs so it will be fun!

I think just the glass clinking here. I will not complain about someone telling me to kiss my fh. I could kiss that man for days and not get bored... *drool*

But I do like melissas idea of us clinking and telling other people to kiss! lol

We decided to not do anything. I find it annoying to hear bells or glass clinking at other weddings (I am sensitive to sounds) so we are going to just ignore it if someone does it to get the point across that it won't work. We will be kissing plenty that night though without being told to so I think it will be fine.

We are having our MC anounce first thing that we do NOT want people clinking their glasses (I despise that sound) but instead to sing a song that has the word love in it.

I just posted this a few days ago on my facebook fan page:

Wedding tip for Wednesday: Alternative to clinking glasses for the bride & groom to kiss: place a few hats on the head table at the beginning of the reception. If anyone wants the bridal couple to kiss, first they step up to the head table and place a hat on their own head. Then it is up to the guest to kiss someone else. In turn the bride & groom kiss.

Choose someone to show how this will work. You can have the dj announce but may not want him to demonstrate and kissing someone. Smiley winking

Can be a lot of fun and get your couples to kiss too!

We aren't doing any of this. I personally don't like the idea of doing something on command. I kiss my fh when I want to kiss my fh and I don't want people telling me when to do it, plus I know that there are those people at our wedding that would be intentionally clinking glasses and ringing bells all night long just to keep us constantly kissing. I could kiss my man all night long but I would do so because I want to. Also, like others have said, I find the sound of ringing bells and clinking glasses to be highly annoying, plus it will make it hard for me to hear other things at the event if people insist on making extra noise. I am nearly deaf in one ear and the last thing I want is for the other ear to me filled with annoying noises.

Any ideas of how to get people NOT to do something to try and make us kiss? This is actually one of the things I'm really NOT looking forward to about the wedding. I loving kissing my FH but am not big of public displays of affection (which I realize is what a wedding is...which is on whole why the wedding thing stresses me out...but that's another post). My family is persistent, I'm worrying ignoring it or having the DJ ask people not to will only cause them to spend their entire evening clinking their glasses! Plus I hate that noise!!!

    Diane,

If you don't want to be forced to kiss when people ding their glasses... have your DJ state at the beginning of the reception that when the glasses are dinged, the bride and groom will select a random couple (preferrably married) and ask that couple to kiss and give them a tip for a long-lasting relationship.

Well, we're NOT clinking glasses..but I never tought of making OTHER people kiss when guests start clinking..lol, I think I will steal that one! I thought one os these:

    1) Give a tip for a long marriage

    2) SIng a love song or poem

    3) (this might be the one) Tell us what love is, I got each of my nieces and nephew to write it down and my sister is going to read it aloud at the ceremony.

At my cousins, the made a scaveger hunt of a type, listed a whole bunch of stuff the bride and groom chose (stuff that would be in your wallet or purse) and if you presented it to the couple they would kiss..NOne the less my table, all ten of us, had duct tape pieces (on their list) and they just came down and gave each of us a hug and a kiss.it was fun!

I've never heard of this before wedding wire. I think it would get really annoying. If I'm at a wedding I honestly don't care if you kiss at the reception (as long as you had good food ...j/k). Seriously, I don't think any guests care really about making you "perform"

This is a very Irish tradition and since we are having a lot of Irish elements in our wedding ceremony and both of us are VERY Irish, we are doing the bells. I've always loved the idea of the bell tradition and I think our guests are adult enough to keep the ringing to a lovely minimum. I'm just not ready to give up my bells! I know it sounds insane and, judging by the replies to this thread it sounds unpopular, but no one in my area has ever done anything like this so I'm curious to see how it goes.

I have never heard of this before. I doubt anything will happen but I will be kissing him often enough as it is.
