What are you doing for your first dance and last dance??

wonderful moment, on December 1, 2009 at 9:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 47

When the reception get started I do not want to dance right away. I want everyone to eat first and relax than start dancing. So is your first dance is husband and wife? And what should your last dance be as well? I was thinking of playing don't be trady for the party (because we are going to have an after party after the reception and I want people to get ready for that as well). I want the party to continue on to the next party. Or should we do a slow dance and for the people who will not be attending the after party we can leave it as a good night for them?

Lol @ Jouselle... you sound like me when I found out we should pick a song for the cake cutting!

Wonderful moment... we're still trying to figure it out like you, but we're thinking of doing the bridal party announcement and once we're announced make a short speech thanking everyone for coming to celebrate a wonderful moment in our lives and then a short thank you speech to our parents and then go into dinner. We thought of going from our announcement as Husband & Wife into the first dance which looks nice, but it seems like it gets a little awkward to stop dancing when some of our guests may want to dance as well to go to into dinner. So I'm with you on eating first then dancing!

As for the last dance, we're using Etta James "At Last" for our last dance to end the night and after that make a quick announcement of the after party so those who want to join us can (mostly all the younger people) or they can end their night there at the venue (the older ones of course). Smiley smile

Yeah I like At Last. I have that one on my short list. We haven't decided on our first dance yet but we've decided that Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" will be our last dance LOL!

I agree with the eating and relaxing before the dancing happens. I went to a couple weddings who danced then ate then danced again. I didn't really care for that. I figured after running around all day I need a chance to relax! haha

Our first dance will be a combination of "..And I Love Her" by the Beatles, and "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. I'm working on cutting the music now and making it short enough with both songs Smiley smile

Our last dance/exit song will be "Rock you Like a Hurricane" by Scorpions! haha I love it.

Ladylee I love the "Let's Get It On" idea! That's great!!!

We wil be eating first then dancing, to Usher's "Here I stand" or Kem "I cant stop loving you" I always wanted to dance to at last but I will definitely throw that song in there somewhere on the song selection list.

I am kinda diggin BeBe and CeCe Winans' "Close To You" for a first dance. I love the tempo of it. The words are nice.

    .

@jae21, Let's Get It On came on the radio when we were having our last planning meeting. I jokingly said 'Let's make this our first dance' and he said "Nah. Let's make it the last dance'. That'll work! LOL!

Our song is Amazed by Lonestar since we danced to it on NYE when we first said I Love You. So that's our first dance ... I plan on playing "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton as the last song of the evening. We both love that song.

We came in and ate dinner. Then we had toasts. Then our first dance. We danced to Keith Urban "memories of us". Our last dance was to Brad Paisley "thought i loved you then"

I want our song to be Spend My Life with you by Eric Benet. And than mix it up with something funny for us to dance off. I wanted the bridal party to come up and do a line dance with the parents to (To night going to be a good night with Black eye peas) and get the party started.

We will be eating and then dancing as well. Our first dance is going to be Matthew West "When I Say I Do" gorgeous and very beautiful song and then our last dance is going to be to Brian Littrell "You Keep Givin' Me" that was like our first song.
