Wedding shoes too expensive?

Melissa, on January 5, 2017 at 6:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 74

Let me start by saying I am cheap. I pretty much exclusively shop at target. I buy most of my stuff on sale or clearance.

I'm almost to my one year mark so I picked up my planning again. I was perusing the internet the other day at work and found the absolute perfect pair of shoes and exactly what I've had in mind. The issue, they're $200. That's about $180 more than I would normally spend. They're Kate Spades. I showed Fh and told him I'm obsessed but I can't stomach the cost. And he, the one who's more frugal than me, told me they're special and I should just do it. We're financially stable, but we're in no way "well off." I don't need them right this instant, I could probably wait until taxes come so it doesn't hurt so bad.

But. Is it worth it?? Will I regret spending $200?

Here's the shoes

Honestly, those are super cute, but $200 would be too much for me for flats too.

Why don't you sleep on it for a bit, and since your wedding isn't until next year, maybe see if you can find them on sale next black friday? If you have your heart set on them still, saving a few bucks couldn't hurt!

I would say look for deals on other sites for those shoes and keep an eye out for when they go on sale. Do you use the Honey chrome extension? I've found deals using that on multiple sites. I'm frugal as well, but some things are worth it! Smiley smile

I'm the same way but this is a special occasion. It's ok to splurge on yourself once and a while. Treat yourself!

I have this thing about spending that amount of money on flats. I have no idea why lol. Flat sandals with a ton of jewels, sure. Maybe because these are not unique to me. I'm pretty sure I've seen these at Macy's with their INC brand. I think that if you had to come here to ask us, the answer is no! Don't do it Melissa! Lol

What makes them so expensive? Just the name? I wouldn't be able to spend 200 on flats

I love those shoes so much!!! I looked at them and asked FH if I could get them and he actually said yes. But when it came down to it, I decided that I couldn't bear to spend that much on shoes :/ I'm the same way as you.

I ended up seeing these shoes at Walmart for $6 and that's what made me decide not to go with the Kate Spade ones, just because I liked the ones I bought just as much. But if you want to treat yourself to a fancy pair of shoes and you can, I don't see why not, or you can keep looking for similar shoes that are cheaper.

I'm in no way buying them now. They're at Macy's and pretty much other higher end department stores. But of course Kate spade themselves don't sell them anymore. So I can't find any coupons or anything for them. All of Macy's coupons are not valid on Kate spade products so it's not likely they'll go on sale for Black Friday. My fh used to work at Macy's and he knows the brands and stuff which prices pretty much don't change. I found similar ones on Amazon but they looked like cheap knockoffs.

There's no way I could spend that much on shoes. Amazon has lots and lots of gold shoes for under $30 (like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U6R26YA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_CsTBybXN0HHPB)

If it makes you feel better, H's wedding shoes were over $400.

It was his big splurge. He'll get a ton of use out of them, considering he'll never buy another pair of dress shoes again in that color. They're good quality leather, timeless style.

However, I don't see getting a whole lot of extra wear out of sparkly flats. Not $200 worth, anyway.

I couldnt spend that much on sparkly flats. How much use are you really going to get out of them?

I agree with a pp if you have to ask the answer is probably no.

I mean I do wear flats like every day to work. So they would get worn again. And my wardrobe is 90% black so it's not like nothing will match.

I'm planning to buy $230 Tieks flats. IMO it's your wedding, it's okay to splurge.

If you want to splurge then you should. However check around. Amazon has these for $30. I'm sure if your a clearance target shopper (like me) the Kate spade part isn't as important as the look.

If you can afford them realistically (i.e. you can still pay your bills), I don't see a problem.

Ms. B -->Mrs. L - All I wear these days are Tieks. Totally worth the cost. They are the most comfortable shoes for my problem feet.

I would wait and see if they go on sale. I think $200 for shoes is a lot. I typically try to stay around $100 unless it is boots. My wedding shoes were originally $180 and I got them on sale for $70. I love them but would never have spent $180.

They may not even have them, but check out the facebook group: kate spade addicts - buy/sell/trade. I found 3 pairs of KS keds in my size for like $40 each (usually $80) and they were only worn once. Just a suggestion!

I think it's ok if you'll wear them afterwards, but just for your wedding--nope. I think they'd look cute with black pants or jeans though!
