Wedding shoes too expensive?

Let me start by saying I am cheap. I pretty much exclusively shop at target. I buy most of my stuff on sale or clearance.

I'm almost to my one year mark so I picked up my planning again. I was perusing the internet the other day at work and found the absolute perfect pair of shoes and exactly what I've had in mind. The issue, they're $200. That's about $180 more than I would normally spend. They're Kate Spades. I showed Fh and told him I'm obsessed but I can't stomach the cost. And he, the one who's more frugal than me, told me they're special and I should just do it. We're financially stable, but we're in no way "well off." I don't need them right this instant, I could probably wait until taxes come so it doesn't hurt so bad.

But. Is it worth it?? Will I regret spending $200?

Here's the shoes

I'm going to try and not hijack the thread, but T-Rex, tell me more about the Tieks. I teach, and while I'm normally in garden boots because I teach garden, when I'm not, I need a comfy shoe that doesn't look gross. What makes them worth the money?

I'm a teacher, too, and I have problem feet. Fallen arches which makes them hurt and the pain wraps around my ankle. For years I wore Dansko, Clarks, and other shoes that had support.

Last year, I learned about Tieks from a bride here. I read reviews, and saved up some money so I figured I'd give them a try. I felt a bit guilty because they ARE expensive. But I bought my first pair (the rose gold).

And then I bought my second pair the next week (mustard yellow). I fell in love immediately. They conform to your feet, the pads on the bottom are cushioned and no-slip, and I got NO blisters. I can wear them 12 hours NO problem with no arch pain. The only thing I can think of is that BECAUSE they mold to my feet (due to the sole construction) is why I have no pain.

I've since bought several more pairs. Some of my teacher friends tried to shoe-shame me (since they are expensive), but I don't have kids, I don't have a car payment, I don't carry balances on my credit cards, and I have a savings account.

To me, the lack of pain is worth the money.

If you're that worried, you can find similar knock-offs at Payless or something similar!

If you want them and will wear them - treat yo self!!

My only advice would be to try them on and make sure they're comfortable. I've purchased Tory Burch flats (in that same price range) only to find out that they hurt my feet. I've had them over 2.5 years and they still hurt wearing them.

I can't really imagine spending triple digits on a pair of flats, but if you love them so much you can't stop thinking about them, it's not an absurd cost. This is likely the most special pair of shoes you will ever buy, and they look like the type of thing you can wear again and again-fancy parties, holidays, etc. plus they're likely comfy and that's something you can't put a price on. For me, a pair of Kate Spade shoes is something I would never splurge on for myself, except for maybe this one really special day.

All of that said, I feel like I've seen gold glitter flats in a lot of places for a lot less, unless you're really living the designer name, too.

I have looked EVERYWHERE for gold flats like these. Yes I'm trying to talk myself into it because $200 on shoes makes me want to vomit. I'm so particular. Like the Jessica Simpson ones that were posted, that bow is hideous. I don't want anything like that. Payless doesn't have gold flats. Walmart (I literally just looked online, only a matte gold color). Target. Jcpenney. None. I have super wide feet and all the ones I'm finding on Amazon have pretty bad reviews for anyone with wide feet. If im buying it online, I read all the reviews. If I can find knockoffs for cheaper, I'm in. But the whole thing is these are exactly what I want and I can't find anything that is pretty much exactly these.

Have you tried looking for them on eBay or amazon? If your in love with them and can see yourself wearing them other than on just your wedding day, get them! Its something you'll use more than once and it's okay to splurge on yourself every once in awhile!

Personally, I would NEVER spend that much $ on flats. MAYBE boots, but who am I? I buy a $175 pair of rubber rock climbing shoes once a year soooo, idk. I'll just say, there are so many other ways to spend that money when it comes to your wedding day. I can't even see my shoes in any of the photos my photographer took.

You can find that shoe for sooo much cheaper- Glitter flats are EVERYWHERE and nothing special (sorry!).

Regarding the Tieks- The ads for the damn things have been popping up on my Pinterest for well over a year, it's interesting to hear from someone who actually has them. I had NO idea they would be that expensive.

@T-Rex I teach kinder and am moving around all day long too. I've heard that Tieks are amazing but never got an explanation that was as good as the one you just provided. Thanks! I'm definitely buying a pair for my wedding that I can wear to work after.

@ak coming from someone who has been searching for a while now, gold glitter flats are not everywhere. Trust me. But thanks.

I will say I have a wide foot and Kate spade flats don't work for me . If you order from Macy's and they don't work it should be fine to return them

I'm obsessed with Kate Spade (but I operate on a Target budget, so if I buy something Kate Spade it's on MEGA sale). I tried doing some more searching for those flats as well, and I wasn't coming up with much. It's not like it is uncommon to find designer flats around that price range, and hell, I've seen even more expensive ones too. If you love them, if you can afford them, and if you feel like you are going to get some use out of them beyond your wedding, I think those are some solid signs to go for it. Macy's will probably continue to have them for a while, and I saw them on Nordstrom's website as well, so maybe sleep on it a little more, and then make your decision. I think they're gorgeous Smiley smile

Maybe UO but I actually don't even like those flats. They look like something you could get in the kids section at Payless. I'm sorry, but you can find sparkly flats anywhere, they do not need to be that expensive.
