Wedding shoes too expensive?

Let me start by saying I am cheap. I pretty much exclusively shop at target. I buy most of my stuff on sale or clearance.

I'm almost to my one year mark so I picked up my planning again. I was perusing the internet the other day at work and found the absolute perfect pair of shoes and exactly what I've had in mind. The issue, they're $200. That's about $180 more than I would normally spend. They're Kate Spades. I showed Fh and told him I'm obsessed but I can't stomach the cost. And he, the one who's more frugal than me, told me they're special and I should just do it. We're financially stable, but we're in no way "well off." I don't need them right this instant, I could probably wait until taxes come so it doesn't hurt so bad.

But. Is it worth it?? Will I regret spending $200?

Here's the shoes

I agree with pp's. I'm positive you can find these for cheaper than $200

I love glitter but $200 is a lot... if you really feel you'll get good use out of them then spend the money, Kate Spade products hold up for a long time. I found a pair I loved but they were $400 and no way I would get that much use out of them so I scrapped the idea. You can always check ebay to see if someone has them for sale for cheaper.

But if you wont break the bank then treat yo self.

I was looking for shoes, saw nothing I liked under 200 til I went to amazon. Spent $45 for an awesome pair of shoes and they fit great BC I thought 200 was way too much.

What size do you wear, Melissa? If we come across something, we can put the link up.

So I'll admit that I spent $250 on my wedding shoes. But they are also custom made and very unique. Though the Kate Spades you chose are very beautiful, they can be replicated as knock offs easily for a much more reasonable price. The reason these are $200 is because they have the Kate Spade name branded to them. I searched google for "gold glitter flats" and came up with hundreds of results that were similar to the Kate Spades but a much more reasonable price. If you decide to go with the $200 Kate Spades then I don't see a problem with it, it is your wedding day and you should splurge, but if you want to consider more options Ive attached some photos of my findings. Attached here are some J crew gold glitter flats for $60

I would never pay that much for a pair of shoes... especially flats. Unless you're going to wear the sh*t out of them and get your money's worth. I'm positive you can find them or similar ones elsewhere. Plus, is anyone even going to see them? Yeah maybe for a few pics but no one else will care about those pics of the shoes and rings and stuff but you, and you probably won't be looking at those everyday. I'm always for treat yo self.... but on stuff that's worth it lol.

Omg. I want those so badly! They are perfect shoes. I agree with PPs, just sleep on it for awhile and if you're still stuck on them, do it!

If I absolutely loved a pair of shoes, I would buy them. I spent a lot on my wedding shoes and I have no regrets. But for those ballet flats, I feel like you could get something similar for less. So my advice: keep looking and if you keep coming back to these, buy them.

OP you seem like you have made up your mind? It seems like you know you want them and don't want the others out there/ are having a tough time finding them. So If that's the case and you can reasonably afford the Kate spade ones, go for it.

I felt that way about heels.I am so cheap and I can't even think of spending $200 on shoes but the ones I love are about that. Maybe you can find some cheaper flats, I personally wouldn't on flats but you can always wear them again.

If you love them and you can't stop thinking of them and they're literally exactly what you want and you'll be holding all other shoes to this standard I think you should get them. I can justify spending money like there's no tomorrow and I've spent more than $200 on flats before so I'm probably not the best influence though. I don't know what Kate Spade's return policy is, but I know Nordstrom has a great one and they sell these shoes. Buy them from there and keep them in a box with the receipt and if you can't find anything else you'll have them, but if you do you can return them at anytime. I wouldn't risk waiting for a sale and losing them if you love them. (Also side tip- Nordstrom price matches so if you do find them on mega sale you can have them price match and still get the great return policy)

I wouldn't spend $200 on flats normally. But wedding day flats? Decent brand good quality and I love them, with 1 year to save???? Done deal!

Have you checked to see if you can find them on eBay, Poshmark, mercari or Tradesy?

Now you guys have me wanting tieks! And I never spend that much...

I'd say get the shoes... But I'm partial to Kate Spade anything so I may be biased, lol.

I'm considering a pair of Badgley Mischka shoes I fell in love with but 1. They are $230 and 2. I don't have a dress yet, lol, so I don't know if they will match it.. but I keep thinking about them.

$200 on shoes? Not absurd. BUT, but those shoes are super basic and I would be shocked if you couldnt find anything cheaper.

I think $200 is insane for flats. I would keep looking you can def get something similar cheaper.

I personally wouldn't spend that much money for those, They look like you are paying for the name more than anything. That being said I think if you are under/on budget elsewhere and can swing it to splurge then go for it (especially since you said you would wear them again). I would probably keep my eye out for sales, scan ebay and other resale sites to see if a pair in your size might pop up though.
