Overrated and kinda cheesy (at least the ones I’ve seen posted). Little rhymes and knick knack gifts? No thanks. It’s just as useless as most wedding favors. Save your money and just ask.

I think they're overrated. I'm the type of person to just call my friends and family and ask that way. Keep it simple!

Overrated for sure! No one needs to spend the extra money on bridesmaid proposals like that

Generally, overrated, but I'm still doing it. I think if they're personalized to the individual (and no, I don't mean just putting their name on crap) they're actually valuable, but the generic proposals are pretty pointless.

Depending on how you do them I think they are overrated. I did a small box with a mini champagne bottle and some custom cookies(I work in a bakery so it was cheap for me)

I do not think it’s overrated! You can keep it as pricey or cheap as you want or can, it’s the thought that matters! I like to think the bridal party would feel more involved and a part of the day: ) plus coming up with ideas seems so fun!

Over-rated for me. I'll be getting my girls beach bags filled with all types of goodies as their gift for being apart of my special day

I think they are overrated and an unnecessary expense. I do think they are cute and very thoughtful, if you do have room to do it in your budget. I just designed a card on my own and printed it at home and gave it to them.

Overrated when they're over the top and if you're planning to have an engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette, and additional events between your engagement and wedding. The length of your engagement is a factor, too. We're having a short one-- long enough to plan a wedding. We're waiting on our honeymoon, too, so that we're not planning our wedding and honeymoon at the same time.

It can be overrated definitely but I think if you keep it simple it’s not. I made my own for my bridesmaids because they’ve all been with me through so much and I wanted to write them a special note individually to let them know why I chose them.

Overrated - my mother MADE me do this because she went and purchased everything and then insisted I do it. I see no point in it. You're already spending a fortune on the wedding, then you're buying them bridal party gifts that you give just before the wedding, now you're supposed to give them gifts to ask them to be in the bridal party. My bridal party did not throw my shower, only one of them showed up (they all live out of state and my mother held the shower in her home state - 5 hrs away from where I live), I'm not making them buy BM dresses but mismatched dresses of their choosing in one color. Heck one rented hers from Rent the Runway! I think the whole proposal boxes for the wedding party idea is preposterous.

They are probably overrated and not needed, but I love them and I am doing them.

I think those boxes are completely overrated!!!!

This is how I asked my bridal party and I couldn't have had more fun doing it!!! Bought small photo albums. Printed out pics of me and them through the years. The last pic has a message on it asking them to be in my party. There were lots of tears (and even one girl screaming lol) BUT it was simple, thoughtful (I think) and not an uber expensive, yet very extra, gesture.

Overrated and totally a pintrest and social media fueled fad! I've been in 7 weddings in the past and proposal boxes were not even things!

I love treating my friends and family so I went a little overboard with the wedding party proposals! The looks on their faces made it so worth it. I like being creative so in my world it's not overrated.

Overrated... But I think they can be sweet and tasteful. I don't think close friends or family should "expect" anything like gifts or goodies when asking. I think if they love you they will be satisfied with just being included in the wedding. But I think a little something special can be sweet! I just ordered these personalized lables ($5 each) and I am putting them on some inexpensive bottles wine . A cute and simple gift!
