Engagement Pictures: Overrated or Underrated?

Underrated. You only get to do them once and I think they're a nice keepsake to remember that time in your life.

Underrated. I can't wait to do mine. I just set up the time to do this September I can't wait.

Underrated. It took me forever to set up a time to do them but once we did I loved the experience so much. It is such a great time to spend with your SO and get to know your photographer. Everyone should do it as a test run.

Overrated... until we did ours! 😆 We weren’t planning on it (unnecessary expense) but then my hubby found an amazing Groupon deal for a new photographer and it was a great way to take our Save The Date/wedding website photos in the style of our theme—black/white/polka dot 50’s/60’s era!

Underrated! I loved doing the engagement shoot even though I was super nervous. I also highly suggest trying to do it with your wedding photographer. We were able to get so comfortable with her and have no worries for the wedding. She even stayed way over the given time because she wanted to experiment with different light. We got dinner with her and her husband in between shooting and got to know her personally as well. I know my situation may not be the norm, but I think it still increases comfortability in front of the camera.

Underrated!! I wasn't sure it was necessary, but since the engagement shoot was part of our wedding photography package, I said, ok let's do it!! It turned out to be an even better experience than I had imagined!! It was great to be able to work with our photographer and get to know her style before the wedding. It helped us get rid of those "fear of the unknown" jitters regarding the photographer, and having our picture taken in general. We had so much fun, and know have some wonderful photos of us that we wouldn't have had otherwise!! So, if you're not sure, go for it!!

Engagement pictures I think are overrated. I have been with my fiance for 7 years, we got engaged two months ago and will be getting married next may. It was more fun to get everyone together at our house for a cook out and tell them in person that we were getting married then it would be to have someone take our picture and send it out to everyone. Also I think it is way impersonal

Underrated.

We're doing them and I think they're very important. We don't take a lot of pictures so it's a chance for us to have some. It's also such an amazing time to capture so that you can look at the pictures in 50 years and relive.

Underrated, I almost didn't get them. If I hadn't I would have regretted it. They're something to look back at and enjoy.

It is up to the bride and groom whether or not they want engagement pictures and if it is IMO to them to do so. We haven’t decided yet if we want them or not.

I think it's underrated. You get a chance to really spend time and celebrate with your new fiancee. This gives you such a good memory as well. A lot of people rarely take the time to get professional pictures done, so doing it at such a happy time really gives you some great photographs. It's well worth the memories I feel.

Underrated! It's part of the fun leading up to the big day. That and you get to experience how your photographer is and what it'll be like the day of.

Underrated! My FH and I haven't even taken ours...and will probably do so a month before the wedding or something, just to have the pictures for ourselves. I think it's definitely something worth investing in, just for the memories and it's basically the unofficial start of a family album. I say go for it, if we had been more timely about it I would have definitely used them for save the dates.
