I've only seen these on Pinterest and Etsy so I wouldn't translate that to them being *that* common in real life. They seem like a fun idea but totally unnecessary expense. Especially if your attendants are across the country or overseas.

In my personal opinion, overrated. Weddings are so needlessly formal to begin with, imo, so to add an additional excess layer of formality just to ask people to be your bridesmaids feels egregious to me.

HOWEVER, if it makes the bride happy and she thinks her friends will enjoy it, go for it!

Over rated, I would be happy to see them and all the unnecessary little gifties disappear. One, chosen for the individual, near or on wedding day.

My 3 bridesmaids are out of state, and I'm so excited they are receiving their suprise packages in the mail today. I found these beautiful "Be my Bridesmaid" cards on Minted.com, and personalized each with 3 photos inside from our friendships (though you could do 1 or 6 photos), and tailored my printed message on the inside. I added a Zara scarf with their first initial in the package. All in all relatively inexpensive and personal.
