Wedding Party paying for Rehearsal Dinner?

I'm in another wedding this coming fall, and it's been told to us by the MOH that the bridesmaids will be hosting the rehearsal dinner as well as the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and a spa day sleepover with the bride the night before the wedding. Is this a thing? I'm a little taken back, and truly don't think I can afford all of this since I'm paying my wedding and honeymoon and will be a little strapped for cash at that point.

I think I'd tell her to fly a kite up her ungrateful narcissistic ass and move on.

She sounds like a very sad, insecure woman...so interested in her pinhead, pinterest life...not believing that her deep need to be approved of and loved by strangers is anything to worry about. All of the demands being made by this social media socialite are signs of how far her delusions of grandeur have gone. She can't afford a RD (and the family's not paying -- or she doesn't trust them to), but in her little fake box of a world it's important that her "fans" think she had a pinterest worthy RD because she that adored. She can't afford a spa day for her BMs, but it's imperative that she be seen, frozen in time, the Guest of Honor prancing around, Mimosa in hand, with her ladies in waiting picking up the tab because she's that beloved. The saddest thing, because it requires more than your money -- it requires your emotional investment (with a deadline) -- is that letter. Not double spaced? Wow.

We hear about weird, overbearing bridal demands all the time on this site. Unfortunately, it's far more likely that the bridal party just goes along with the insanity and vents here. It's time to stop enabling her. If you don't, you will lose her as a friend because she's got more planned than what you know.

Isn't the point of the rehearsal dinner to THANK the bridal party for all they've done & attending the rehearsal? Totally acceptable to say no IMO

I am literally LMAO'ing up and down the aisles of the train that I am on.

A fucking letter? Stoppp it now.

    Dear Fuck Face,

Go on and fiiiddducckkkk yaself and your wedding!

    Sincerely yours,

Oh hell no. You only have to pay for your dress. If you so choose you can help with the bachelorette party of you decided to join in, and the bridal shower IF you decide you want to help host it/it's in your budget. I would just opt out of being a bridesmaid of she's asking all that of you.

Ugh. That is absurd! First your RSVP issues and now this, yuck. PS - I've been watching the weather up here for you and thinking of you! Hope it stays nice Smiley smile

Omg no definitely not. Realistically you're only in charge of buying the dress and showing up. It's an added bonus when the bridal party gets together to throw a shower and bachelorette party. If I were you I would let MOH know that you can't afford the rehearsal dinner or the spas day beforehand. That's ridiculous.

The 2 page paper single spaced would be cute had the MOH thought of it for everyone to do as a gift to the bride as a surprise. No way in hell is it okay for the bride to request that and make everyone do that. Don't even stress about that. Go enjoy your wedding week and your honeymoon, then you can deal with her craziness. It's absurd she wants you to meet all of her deadlines during your wedding time

I wouldn't even do such thing to my own bridesmaids.. that bride is very inconsiderate clearly. I am considerate of mine and allowed them to choose their dresses that were in their budget, and allowed them to plan the bridal shower with my pins on Pinterest for ideas, and told them that I just want a simple and cheap bachelorette party. I've been told that I'm being too easy.. which I understand, but people have other stuff to pay for.. like their own wedding, a baby on the way, college, a house, the list goes on. So what she's asking for is absurdly ridiculous and too extreme

Not only that, but my mom volunteered to pay for the rehearsal dinner and I refused to allow her. Pretty much, there's no rehearsal dinner. Which I'm fine with TBH. More money in my moms pocket

@MKEbride thanks! I've been religiously looking at the weather and I think it's going to rain! Can't wait to post my BAM though. That venue is gorgeous.

Yea, the RSVP drama events were bad enough, but now this again?

Honestly, I need to start really evaluating my friend choices.

@Rachel, you are very right. I think I will talk to her about this after my wedding is over. I didn't see any of this coming, though I should have, knowing her obsession with instagraming a fake life.

I can deal with the letter. I will end up doing the letter, but it's going to wait until I have kind words to say.

The RD is not happening. I will not contribute and will put my foot down.
