Wedding Party paying for Rehearsal Dinner?

I'm in another wedding this coming fall, and it's been told to us by the MOH that the bridesmaids will be hosting the rehearsal dinner as well as the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and a spa day sleepover with the bride the night before the wedding. Is this a thing? I'm a little taken back, and truly don't think I can afford all of this since I'm paying my wedding and honeymoon and will be a little strapped for cash at that point.

Traditionally the grooms family pays for the rehearsal dinner, but lots of couples pay for it themselves, or just don't have one.

This is still bothering me. I am even going as far as paying for my nieces dress and accessories and my brothers new suit (so he always has a nice one).....i bought most of my girls items as well as almost everything myself without asking my fiance for help.

I don't get how people are so money hungry

Yea, it's been quite the bit of fun. The homework is a long 2 page not double spaced letter to the bride about advice and how we feel about her and what not (as requested by the bride through the MOH). I'd have no issue with doing this, but it's expected to be mailed out by next week... my wedding week. The wedding is 5 months away.

    Re: Homework

    Are you fucking kidding me?

Can you just C+P "I am not your glitter slave, your employee nor your doormat." until it reaches the 2 page minimum as required by the bride?

Ummm what?! I'd send her a two page single spaced letter on the reasons why I'm not a bridesmaid any more. Is she in your BP?

Oh hell no! Not only is the whole RD fiasco a mess, but an "assignment" that you're required to write for the bride? I would jump off this crazy train!

I agree with @Wed1819, I'd be considering stepping down. Friends don't ask for this kind of stuff from their friends.

Hard fucking pass on all of this. I'd be nope-ing out of that BP so fast and probably not speaking to that "friend" for a long time, if I ever decided to talk to her again at all.

She is in my BP. And yes, 'sinlge spaced' was used. I can't really call this a gift, because she asked the MOH to have us do this... (the MOH ratted her out via text). So, I don't really know what this is for. But, I have a headache from it all.

I really want to back out, but overall, I do love this girl. She's overly excited and wants to have this perfect Pinterest wedding. She's also a social media socialite. Everything needs to be just so so she can portray it just right to the world. She's interesting that way. But, overall, I do love her. I didn't really expect this out of her because she's very chill about a lot of other things.

Ultimately, I don't want this to ruin our friendship, but I'm shocked by the nerve.

Absolutely not a thing. The groom's parents traditionally pay for the rehearsal dinner (sometimes I think the dinner was invented to finally have something the groom's family is financially responsible for). If parents don't pay, then the couple does. That's it, the end. Please don't agree to fund this, it is not cool.

Unbelievable. That homework letter would be my resignation letter from the position of BM.
