Wedding Cakes are so expensive!

A friend of mine is making it! And she is amazing, so I'm pretty much just paying for supplies i got lucky! probably 100$

That's why we opted for cupcakes. Between the price per slice and the cutting fee, cupcakes came out much cheaper. Hope you find something great!

Let me preface this with the fact that we are having a family style/Buffet BBQ dinner for our meal. We are having cupcakes made by our caterer's wife who also happens to be a retired pastry chef. Our cupcakes were included in the cost of the catering which is $12 per person.

I am super lucky with our cake. One of my mom's best friends is an amazing baker/cake decorator and owns her business doing specialty cakes and cupcakes. She is giving us our cake as our wedding gift. I am so excited because she is fantastic!

There are many factors that depend on the price of a wedding cake. The biggest one is location.

We are paying $600 for 150 servings and this includes delivery.

I am buying a 3 tier wedding cake at my local bakery for $100 which feeds about 90 folks and 2 additional sheet cakes for about $30 each which is about $60. So $200 total including delivery. The wedding cake is for the photos the other cake which will be cut in the back and served is just a cheaper alternative. Hey it is a wedding and its cake.

So jealous of all of you that have connections that are able to do yours! I guess I should just be thankful that I had a photography connection and got that at a steal for $500.00.

Where I am located, prices range from $3.50-$5.00/serving. We haven't chosen our cake yet, but I imagine ours will cost around $350-$400.

I ordered it from a cupcake bakery, but they do really simple wedding cakes. The savings made it completely worth it. The cake was delicious so nothing was lost there either.

My cake is $1200....granted its a fabulous piece of art and made my jaw drop when the artist/baker came up with the idea....I feel like I gave into the price because we were in the moment and the person is famous on the island where we are getting married. It was more of the wow factor....I cringe every time I think of the price still lol .....$1200!!!!!! Grrrrrrr It better taste like heaven!

$740 for brides cake and grooms cake. 130 guests anticipated. Part of that is delivery fee. But they are going to be delicious! Buttercream frosting. I think the cost per serving is about $3.99ish.

One of the other local bakeries I looked at started at $6/serving!

Mine is $364 3-tiered with enough cake to feed 45 people.

This is why we too decided to go the cupcake route....9 dozen cupcakes (1 doz of them being gluten free) along with a 4" cutting cake for $350 :-)

Ours is $225, feeds 100 people, and that includes delivery! Grooms cake is only $45, but is small. A local lady that does amazing work is doing ours, so we definitely lucked up!
