Was finding your wedding dress a WOW moment?

Christina, on September 24, 2015 at 10:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 60

I'm curious, when you found 'the one' - dress, not SO Smiley winking - what did you feel?

1 - 'WOW, chills' (admittedly, there were tears)

2 - 'Hey, this is pretty -- done!'

...or somewhere in between?

Somewhere in between for me. It was strange, because it was my first appointment...and I was all alone! I just wanted to go by myself once to get a feel for what I like before I bring my mom out to VA. I went in with zero intentions of buying anything.

But the consultant brought in this dress, and I immediately thought it was pretty. It had such soft lace and lovely, subtly beading. Then, when I put it on I stood in it for probably 20 minutes. Then, I asked to try on a couple more. After that dress I immediately dismissed the other dresses. Put the dress back on and queue the misty eyes. I was probably more surprised than anything.

I tried on about 50 dresses before I found the one. I was losing hope at this point that I would never get " That feeling". The moment I zipped it up I lost it. I had not even seen myself in the mirror yet lol. I cried, my sister cried we were both a blubbering mess, It was an amazing feeling of just relief & in love with it Smiley smile

Mine was the 2nd one I tried on. Looking at it in the bag and on the hanger it was kinda of eh... didn't care for it at all, but the minute I put it on I fell in love with it. My face just lit up. So I must say a big thank you to my sister-in-law because without her I never would have tried it on. Her comment what, "You are trying this on, end of story".

I had two dresses I was deciding between. One was what I had envisioned myself wearing and the other was one that I liked because it was so unique. The unique one was a sample so I knew I had to make a decision. It was more than I wanted to spend (but really all of the dresses were more than I wanted to spend.) I stood in the dressing room staring at myself in the mirror for a good half hour and then finally thought of another girl wearing "my" dress. I couldn't let it go! I bought the unique one and haven't looked back.

My experience was different. I saw a picture of the dress online and thought it was beautiful. I looked up the price and realized it was under budget! I hunted it down, tried it on and thought I looked amazing so I bought it. Didn't feel the need to try on other dresses & have not felt 1 bit of dress regret

    1. Had tears, but then was like this is it, I'm out and the whole experience was done in 1.5 hours! Tried on 8-10 dresses.

I put it on, buttoned it up and immediately said "god damn it!" it looked stunning and I felt absolutely amazing (I was even skipping around the store in it) but it was the top of my budget... I was hoping not to like it so I could fall in love with a cheaper dress. Oh well such it is life! Also the shop cut me a bit of a price break after a little negotiating, so double win!

I totally did not not have a WOW moment. I was a little unsure about the one that became my dress because it was totally different than what I had planned! I shopped around a bit more after trying on "the one" and when I found myself comparing others to that one, I knew it was time to make a purchase.

Mine was "Wow I look really good in this." and I didn't want to take it off. No crying, no chills, just smiles.

I was more of a "Ooh... this is really pretty, and it looks good on me! I'm done." It was beautiful, and within my budget. My face did light up, and I couldn't stop smiling. But I didn't cry. And that's okay!

It was exciting, and I was so happy to have found a dress. But it wasn't a huge dramatic moment for me, like everything I had seen on TV or in movies.

My cried at the very first dress I put on, lol. I tried on a lot though and was having trouble deciding between two. I called my FH to get his opinion and after that I got teary eyed and then mom cried so then I cried and we were hugging each other just sobbing LOL

I didn't cry, but I'm not one to cry very often. It was more of a "Wow, I look like a bride!" And not wanting to take the dress off. I didn't want to try on any others once I found the dress.

It's funny because I thought I found the dress, no tears or anything just a good feeling. I went back because I found the dress without my bridesmaids and wanted to make it seem like I found it with them. So I brought the dress I already bought and thought was "the one" and threw it in a mix of dresses just to pretend. Well, while trying on some of these other dresses just for fun, I found the "actual one". I cried. I definitely had that "this is the one" moment. Im glad I went back because I am i love with my new choice. And Im so glad my girls were apart of it.

I was staring at myself in the mirror while the consultant laced up the corset. I loved it and didn't want to take it off. REALLY knew it was the one when my dad opened his eyes all wide and said "that one's nice!" (which compared to "that one looks dirty," "you look like you have a tail," and "you look like the chrysler building" was a huge compliment!)

I didn't have a wow moment at all, but I know myself and I never really expected one. The whole situation was a bit weird. I had tried on my dress on my first shopping trip. When I went back to compare it to another dress, they had sold the sample.

So I chose my dress while wearing another dress and looking at pictures of it on the model.

I hated the dress on the rack but my MOH said try it on for the style. You haven't had a ball gown in. FH doesn't like poof! I put it on in the fitting room and looked into the mirror and smiled ear to ear! It made me look like a bride and so pretty!!! I was nervous that my MOH was going to tell me no she didn't like it so when I walked out I didn't let on how much I loved it. She was so quiet! I said oh you don't like! She's said do you like it? I said just be honest and I'll tell you the truth! She says, Kate I LOVE it! And I jumped up and down and said me too!!

As soon as I saw myself in my dress I loved it. I felt so beautiful in it. When they put the veil on I cried.
