Was finding your wedding dress a WOW moment?

I'm curious, when you found 'the one' - dress, not SO - what did you feel? 1 - 'WOW, chills' (admittedly, there were tears) 2 - 'Hey, this is pretty -- done!' ...or somewhere in between?

I didn't want to take it off. I couldn't stop smiling! I twirled around the store. I knew it was my dress from the moment I put it on. I took it off to try on a couple others, but I barely remember those as I wanted to get back into "my" dress as soon as possible.

I think more number 2 than number one. BUT, I will say I had a slight wow moment because I have been so unhappy with my body that when I found a dress that looked good on me I was like "Wow, I actually look pretty." I knew the dress was the one because I loved the way it looked and felt, but I wasn't overwhelmed with joy as some people are.

I had expected it to be, and wanted it to be a "wow" moment, but it wasn't. Finding my dress came down to finding one I didn't completely hate while having it on. When I put my dress on it first looked and felt like a toga (one strap that on me looked way out of place, plus the dress was way too big), but after the seamstress came out and discussed alterations I settled on the dress. I felt like I was in too big of a time crunch (5 months out) and way too frustrated to keep looking so I settled.

I always thought crying when you found the one was ridiculous and "the feeling" was made up for staging purposes and dramatic effect in say yes to the dress.... I was COMPLETELY wrong!! I cried! I got "the feeling"!! My mom cried like a baby.

It was a really special moment for me. I lost my mother 10 years ago so I didn't have her with me for this experience which made me very emotional. I had been looking for a big satin ballgown all over the place with lots of crystals but couldn't find one I liked. I made an appt with Kleinfelds in The city and had a really nice experience , I found one dress by Dennis Basso that I kind of liked but I didn't feel in LOVE with it. And I was really bummed because I thought "this is it, you won't feel really excited about your dress." And then after an extensive google search for a "crystal satin ballgown" I came across one picture from Allure Bridals that I was OBSESSED with... And of course no bridal store within a 50 mile radius had this dress! And then I called a little random bridal shop about 40 miles from my house and she gave me the good news that she had this dress! So after seeing it in person and trying it on, I cried some serious tears of joy to the point where the seamstress and the shop owner were crying too! It was a magical moment that I'll never ever forget. :'). ETA: spelling

I always wanted to go to more places to try on more dresses even though I had a favorite dress at each place. Once I tried on my dress I was done. No more dresses no more shops. Even though I still had another appt the next day.

The first gown was a "hey this is pretty-done."

The second gown (and winner above all) was a "holy crap I look so beautiful! asdfjkl;!"

I remembered thinking how incredible my body looked, and said to myself "No way in hell did I just have a baby 4 weeks ago" Then I started singing "shake your ass" by Mystical and started dancing. I guess I would call that a wow moment LMAO

One of the dresses I really wanted to try on was available in the store in either a size 0 or 26, lol. I'm an 8. Tried on the 26, and my sister and I were like, Noooooo!!!! Then I tried on other dresses which were all very nice, but didn't blow either of us away. Then our sales consultant got me into the size 0. And my sister and I were immediately like, "Wow! Okay, this is it. No need to keep looking. Done." Didn't cry. I was just happy and grinning. Smiley smile

I was waiting for a "wow moment" and I think that is why I tried on close to 70 dresses. It never came for me, but when my grandma cried when I came out in a dress, I knew that had to be the one.

I tried on so many dresses. I was asking for something completely different than what I got. I actually cried over 2 dresses. The first one was basically my exact dress but with bling. I went out and showed the girls and lost it. I asked to try on a few others to make sure that it was the one. When I got back into it, I asked if they had anything like it but without bling (just not my thing). The lady grabbed one and I was done. I cried over that one too. Given it was basically the exact same dress but with a lace bodice instead of bling. I didn't want to take the damn thing off. I even went back while my dress was on order to try it on a few times cause I missed it.

I went into my fitting without any intention to buy, I just wanted to try stuff on when I could have my mom and my MOH with me. It was the 4th or 5th I tried on, but I still wasn't sure. It was discontinued and on clearance, so I really didn't want to leave it! We had another appt at a shop later that day and just had a horrible experience there. We went to lunch and I kept referring to the dress as "my dress" and just knew that I would be super upset if I went back in a few weeks and it was gone. We went back and bought it that day! Haven't looked back since.

Funny thing though....they put a veil on me and usually the normal reaction was to cry. I was like "Ick. Nope!" My dress is sooooooo simple that its special. I thought the veil clashed with that simplicity and actually took away from the dress.

I didn't cry or get emotional...until I had to take it off. Then I got a little sad. I waited a week, and had to go back and try it on again because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I knew the moment it zipped up on the second visit that it was my dress.

Somewhere in between.. I wasn't thrilled with the dress until my consultant brought out a sash that totally transformed the dress from plain jane to "yeah, this could work". I was kind of hung up on the 2nd dress I tried on. The front was beautiful, but the back was lacking that special something. So, I put it back on and instantly knew my dress was the one. When I put it back on with the sash, my mom cried, my MOH cried, and I was just in awe. Feel good feelings, but no tears.

When I saw it hanging on the rack, I thought it was so beautiful! I tried it on and wasn't sure how I liked it because I didn't picture myself in a form fitting dress, but when I walked out, everyone gasped and said it was the one! I ended up waiting and trying it on again at a different store, and as soon as I put it on again I got chills and just knew it was the one.

I was devastated... I was at DB pulling dresses that were on sale. I had a very low budget. It was the big sale so most of the dresses on the clearance rack were around $200-300. One of the dresses I pulled didn't have a price on it. Well I broke the cardinal rule and tried it on without knowing how much it was. I loved it and the others weren't that great. So we said "let's find out how much that dress is because I think it's the one." Well it was $750 and I know that isn't expensive on the grand wedding dress scale but I definitely couldn't afford it. So I left empty handed.

The next day I was determined to get this dress. I googled the crap out of it and found one on preownedweddingdresses.com in my size. I realized that she only lived 2 hours from me so I contacted her and my mom and I drove down to try it on. She was a little shorter than me but was wearing heels on her wedding day so the length she had it hemmed to was perfect. it was a corset and it already had a bustle so I didn't need any alterations and I bought that plus slip for $500! I was thrilled!! I didn't cry but the girl's mom started crying because it brought back memories from her daughters wedding. It was sweet. I love my wedding dress story.

I went on the spare of the moment and saw some dresses. Only my adult daughter and my new born grandson were with me. In the pasted I had tried on probably ten other dresses. I loved the way I felt in the dress but never had the crying moment. After I got the dress home I took it to my maid of honors house to leave it there until the wedding. I tried it on again with my maid of honor and my new stepdaughter and my daughter. Everyone teared up. It was always my dress. It was exactly me
