We are planning a destination wedding so a little tricky. We booked our special "secret" location about 15 months out with the assistance of our amazing wedding coordinator!
I'm more than 2 years away from my big day right now. But we have our venue picked out! We dont have to reserve it, but the groom and groomsman have to go out and make sure the spot is secure a few days before! We are having it at a camping spot that's about 15 minutes away from the closest city! It was perfect trees, flat ground, and very beautiful!
My wedding is next September and we just booked our venue a month and a half ago. If you are planning to have it a a popular place it's probably best you book it for your date as soon as possible.
We booked our venue at the end of May this year for our wedding on October 10, 2020. Even this early it was a struggle finding a venue within budget because: 1. It's in October (higher rates for peak season) 2. It's on a Saturday (higher rates on weekends) and 3. It's a "novelty" date (10/10/2020)
I booked my venue 18 months in advance because your date can be taken at any moment and my parents wanted to make payments on the venue up to the wedding time. It has been so much easier being able to do that than waiting longer to book
Once we got engaged I started looking. We didn’t have a date set but I wanted to know what my options were anyway. I eventually found a place and really had my heart set on it. We ended up our venue in August 2018 and we are getting married on 10/10/2020. At that point no one was on the schedule to get married so it was open to whenever we wanted. That’s a plus if you know you really want a certain place, booking early can guarantee more availability. 😊
We booked over a year and a half out. We wanted a long engagement, but we also wanted a few things set before we told our family to minimize their ability to interfere.
We booked ours a year and a half out. And so glad we did by the time we hit the one year mark we had majority of our major vendors booked since we had a solid date and location. It’s made planning so much easier.
We booked ours about 20 months out. I started seeing our date popping up and realized it was a popular one. So we got the big things nailed down pretty quickly after that. Venue (includes catering) first, then photographer/ videographer/photobooth, DJ, and officiant

Another 10/10/2020 couple here! We booked our venue in February of this year. I'm so glad we have the big stuff booked! I see our date pop up all the time on local groups.
