When it comes to making appointments to look at venues how soon did everyone book their venues if your wedding is so far out?

I booked my venue 22 months out! I loved booking so far in advance because I had so many dates to choose from as well as I received the 2017 pricing for a 2019 wedding!

We started looking for venues about a year out. Our date was chosen by the availability in the month we wanted.

I definitely recommend it! We saved money on our venue, photographer, DJ, and caterer by booking in 2017 for a 2019 wedding! It also takes off so much stress knowing that those big picks are already taken care of!

My fiancé and i picked it almost immediately after we narrowed it down and compared what each venue will offer us for the price. We booked ours last year and the wedding isn’t until next year. Keep in mind pricing will go up each year, but if you book early you just have to KNOW that venue is it and won’t have any regrets.

Yes definitely and that's what we want if we can start booking certain things now and save money that helps us out!

2 years out. My venue is very popular though and I was afraid our May wedding would get taken up.

I would definitely recommend it. Like others have said prices go up each year so if you find a venue you absolutely love I would at least put down the deposit to save your date, and lock in this year's prices. Most venues offer payment plans or have a set date it has to be paid in full by so that may be helpful.

I looked when we first started talking about getting engaged (lol I'm a crazy planner!!). But I would say it's never too early to schedule venue visits. Typically people start booking around a year in advance, but you can get a leg up and really narrow down your options in the time you have. I booked about 11 months out.

We were engaged October 2018 and booked our venue 6 weeks later for our December 2019 wedding.

We booked about 18 months out. The good thing is that we got the pricing for 2018 locked in, even though our wedding isn't until 2020.

We booked ours in August of 2018 and our wedding is in 10 days!!!!! Super excited!! It's best to do it as early as possible to ensure you get the date you need! I had 3 dates in mind when we booked... just in case... Good luck!

We booked our venue 22 months out. I felt like I couldn't really decide on colors, style, a dress, or decor until I knew what my venue would look like. Might not matter as much if you KNOW you are doing beach or farm, or some other specific style, but all the venues we toured were pretty unique. Also, almost all the venues we toured include the catering, so that's about 50% of our budget right there and we wanted to spread out the payments as much as possible.

We booked about a year out. But we are having a year long engagement.
We considered a fall wedding so we considered 19/20 months out. I would have felt comfortable booking that far out. Anything beyond 1.5 years out, I would have possibly felt a little reserved about.
