If you find a venue that you love and they're letting you book for 2022, do it! That way, you also have plenty of time to look for your other major vendors and will probably have first pick. I've booked pretty much everything at this point (need cake, potentially photobooth) and I was able to lock in every vendor that I wanted because we were the first to inquire with our date. Good luck!

We booked our venue a year out... our first date choice sold out while were were negotiating (and our wedding was a Monday night, off-season). Keep in mind some venues may be a popular for weddings & corporate events.

So I found when I was venue shopping is it really depends on the date and season you are looking for. I originally wanted April or May but many of the venues, including the one I ultimately chose were not availible for any weekend day in those months over 18 months in advanced. We ended up in July after we found a venue we liked more than the specific season. However if we had wanted say November-January then dates were wide open even the month of.

We looked at venues up to 5 hours away, so we started looking online. If they were in our budget, had our date available, and had our "must haves" (grooms suite, bridal suite, cigar smoking area, outdoor ceremony, indoor reception, backup space for ceremony, free parking, only wedding that day, etc.) then we went over it together in depth (reviews, pictures, etc.) and scheduled a tour.

We started looking at venues right when we got engaged which was 18 months from the wedding since it could be a long process depending on how many you’d like to tour and whatnot. We just booked at about 14 months away! So glad we did cause the 2020 dates were filling up quick.

I started looking before we even told anyone we were engaged! It was probably 20 months out when we booked the one we wanted. It's a popular spot and there were already bride's looking for it into the year after mine. Venue was completely booked for 2020 in May 2019! If your set on one I'd book sooner as they tend to fill fast.

Because the one venue we love has golf tournaments there and since we are wanting a June wedding that’s when the golf tournaments are we got very lucky that the 2022 dates didn’t interfere with the date we choose since it’s the end of the month!

We booked our 14 months out, which was about a month after getting engaged. All of my friends who are married said to book as early as possible, and that was definitely true, as the venue we ended up booking with was already full for our preferred month about 20 months from the time we toured it.

Our wedding is 05/08/2020 and we booked ours at the end of January 2019. We also booked for a Friday night so Saturday's filled up quicker. (It was over 1,000 dollars cheaper on Friday).
