I had witnessed a (what I now know is a "heated" topic) thread talking about not serving alcohol and felt concerned about my super loved venue. The venue does not allow alcohol. I am now wiser and realize that you should consider your guest for the reception! Smiley smile Don't make my mistake!!

No, you weren't asking for advice on your personalized situation. You were looking for validation that your reasons are acceptable for not having alcohol.

    Everyone thinks they're the exception.

Do what you want and what will make you happy. I know this an unpopular opinion, but whatever

If everything other than that but is truly perfect, then I say go for it.

Well that's a first. Seeing someone use the fact that they illegally brought alcohol and drank out of their car as a PRO to having a dry wedding.

We literally just started planning so our guest list isn't quite done but we've tried to put 50 as the max. Our budget is also not finalized, but we're looking at 5-7k hopefully! I was trying to find venues that had enough beauty that paying for decor wouldn't be a large part of the budget.

Like Sarah said, if you found a venue that doesn't charge a fee, that $3,000 could pay for the alcohol! Dependent upon your guest list of course. Keep looking, you will find something that you love AND allows you to properly host your guests.

Konner- What about her future husband? Does he not deserve to be happy? What about her guests who get dressed up, travel, possibly take time off of work, and bring a nice gift? Do they not deserve to be happy?

@Nicole people are just very heated at the moment with the previous thread. Dry/ cash bar is also a very hot topic on WW. I'm sure you meant no harm though. Either way this is the Internet and people have all types of opinions. I hope you find your perfect venue!

    So everyone drinks except you.

You love a venue that doesn't allow alcohol.

Your guests will bring in alcohol/drink in the parking lot putting you liable because you chose a dry venue.

Or they will leave early in search of a bar.

    This is an easy choice.

I have to admit, that is a gorgeous setting.

Nicole, you say you were taken aback, so you might want to check out the sticky geared towards the new members (at the top of the threads). It warns about posting hot topics. Dry weddings, self-catered weddings, honey funds, and being means to wedding party rank high up there. FYI.

Do whatever you want. Seriously. This is really the only wedding website forum that is hostile to dry weddings, and mean about it. Every other website is full of supportive people.

Thanks, E-Tex, and believe me I definitely will not be posting anything again without thinking haha. If it makes ANYONE feel better all of the comments have made me realize I wasn't considering my guest fully and I'll try to figure out something else for sure.

@Beutivant she definitely needs to go have several seats with that poor attempt to White Knight! ETA: @Amy over there in special snowflake land! Lalalala!
