Venue doesn't allow alcohol - Updated pg. 4

SoonToBeMrs115, on July 14, 2016 at 9:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 93

EDIT: Everyone has made me realize the error of my thinking - I appreciate it!

I had witnessed a (what I now know is a "heated" topic) thread talking about not serving alcohol and felt concerned about my super loved venue. The venue does not allow alcohol. I am now wiser and realize that you should consider your guest for the reception! Smiley smile Don't make my mistake!!

Keep searching for a venue. Don't let your "vision" get in the way of properly hosting your guests.

    Get a new venue.

ETA: how is it even still in business and a brides top choice without alcohol?? What's the name of it?

Keep looking. You won't regret it. I'm sure it is gorgeous but don't you want your reception to be fun?

Call the venue first see if there are any options. If not try to find another location to properly host your guests. ETA: remember the reception is to thank your guests for taking time out of their lives to celebrate your marriage.

I think you've answered your own question. It's obvious you are conscientious of not being a bad host, so keep looking. The perfect one is still out there.

I would keep searching "your dream venue" is not this one. If everyone but you drink then I would say majority rules how does FH feel about the location since he drinks

FH loves the venue and since our budget is extremely small, supported the idea of not having to pay for the expense of alcohol...

You can host it there, but keep in mind: if there's no alcohol, it'll have a totally different vibe. Some people might leave early, some people won't dance, etc. If you're ok with that, then go for it. Sometimes a dry wedding is acceptable - and I think that a venue is it. I didn't have a dry wedding, but if the venue was cool enough, I might be ok.

Also, keep in mind, some people may bring alcohol anyways and sneak it in.

I'm not even sure how this is a question.

    Find a new venue.

That makes it worse if your FH is a drinker and he says it is ok.

O&S there's really no reason to be rude, I skimmed the comments since that poster obviously had a different opinion/situation. My situation differs in that this great venue doesn't allow alcohol, we are extremely tight on money, etc. Just wanted my personalized advice for my situation - which I appreciate everyone giving!

Your venue could be the Taj Mahal and people won't give a rat's ass if they can't have a drink.

Alcohol isn't where you cut costs (unless it's to just serve beer and wine or well liquor) cut the guest list and save money. You have a year and a half until you wedding. Put away 50 bucks a weeks and BOOM there's your alcohol budget.

I've never seen a venue that didn't allow alcohol except for a church basement or *maybe* a public park.

Find other areas to cut your funds. We have a very small budget therefore a small guest list and a courthouse wedding with restaurant reception. Have the wedding you can afford!
