Veil, tiara, hair vine, hair comb, modern or traditional? What are you doing?

Elizabeth, on September 12, 2019 at 10:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 88
I thought I wouldn't wear a veil until she put one on me with my dream dress. It really made that the 'wow! This is the real deal!' Moment. Until then I was just trying on pretty dresses. After that moment I truly felt like a bride. Like this was really happening. And my hair and makeup looked not so great! So that will tell you how much it affects the look. What have you decided on for hair and accesories with your dress and is it modern or traditional? I've made a 2 tier white full fingertip length veil that I'm now beading with Swarovski crystals, Pearls and pearlescent seed beads. Although I am making a pearl and wire hair vine just for fun in case I change my mind or can somehow incorporate that too.

I'm keeping it super simple and wearing a fingertip length veil with my dress! That's so cool how you made your own veil!

Yea I didn't realize how expensive beaded veils were and forget it if it was longer and adorned with some sort of decoration! So I thought 'hey I can do that!' And I did lol. Love how everyone has a different dream and style. So interesting.

I'm so on the fence about this - I liked the look of a veil when I bought my dress so I bought a simple fingertip length one from Etsy. But looking through photos I really love the dramatic look of a long veil, so I bought one of those too haha. I think I'll wear the long one for some photos, and the switch to the short one for the ceremony, and then take it off for the reception. I have my last fitting in two weeks, so I'll have to see how they look then. Wish me luck!

I thought I always wanted a cathedral length too until I seen real photos of real women and it just looked messy and undone unless they were walking down the aisle. Like dont sit down at all in it because it just looks tacky. Also, in my opinion it looks not so great unless you already have a long train. If you don't I personally wouldn't go longer than chapel. But if your dress and height looks good with it and you love it that's all that matters.

I got a chapel length - I'm pretty short and my train is medium-long. I agree that long veils really only look good when they're arranged and posed, but I love the "blowing in the wind" (aka a bridesmaid tossing it into the air and running out of frame) photos and how longer veils look while walking. I really only want it for some photos, and then I'll probably try to resell it/give it to a friend who's getting married.

I don’t want to wear a veil. When my stylist put one on me it was just itchy and it kept sliding out of my hair immediately (I have very fine hair, so it’s not unusual). I decided to go with a tiara and I might be doing a bridal cape (undecided)

I'm doing a full updo with a fingertip veil, I've thought about maybe doing a cathedral length veil but I'm 4'9 and I feel that would look ridiculous on me lol

I think that's what most women do with all veils but especially with longer veils. They are more ceremony and pictures only I think. Not sure but that's just kind of what I've seen. I just didnt like the look of the long veil in actual movement aside from walking straight. I thought I loved it. And it is absolutely gorgeous in modeled photos. but worn in real life it just doesnt flow well. Maybe in another fabric other than netted tulle it might. Idk again thats just my opinion. I hope I'm not making anyone feel bad. There are always exceptions to every rule of course.

From your pic I think those two things would look very beautiful on you. You're right. I think a veil wouldn't be as fitting. you have one of those like feminine but strong and pretty facial structures and hairstyles and body types. Definitely do the Cape too. That's super pretty and apparently really in right now. Hope to see pics when u get it all worked out.

Don’t worry about making anyone feel bad 😂. It’s all individual preference to me. I was going to continue to wear my veil throughout the night (my mom made it for me) until someone said I should take it off and not hide my hair comb and show off my hair😁. 😂

I'm doing a simple veil. About half way down my bicep. I was thinking of including a small hair piece as well but can't decide if its too much.
