    Jesus Christ.

I can't imagine that this was worth saving 2000$ of stress.

The stress alone of putting this together 2 days before my wedding would have been worth any amount of money. I am truly hoping this works out for you- because hells bells that's a lot of stress.

Can't wait to see how they turn out! My florist is doing my greenery for the tables but thinking about buying my own garland for the arch.

ETA: I apologize. I took that comment out of context/misread.

OP - I can't wait to see your end product! It's a ton of work, but I absolutely loved how mine turned out. Good luck!

@jamie I think you misunderstood leelee's comment. She started by saying your flowers were absolutely beautiful

ETA: and I remember your flower post and agree that it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL

OP, I'm going to DIY my flowers too and I'm not ashamed! I want all sorts of beautiful flower arrangements, but I don't have the budget for a florist. So I'm going to prepare the best that I can, gather as much information as possible, be patient with the process, and open-minded with the results... even open to failure if it so happens. I say if you are comfortable doing this project, more power to you. And for those that are not comfortable, they can hire a florist. I think it's all a matter of preference and what's within your comfort zone Smiley winking Good Luck!!!

Pic update: this was the first rough trial run of the big centerpieces. Maybe not pro quality but damn close enough for me!! I love them and it's been a blast! ETA: maybe I'm just a weirdo but I found no stress in this. It was actually calming, enjoyable and very gratifying once all the centerpieces were finished. I would totally do it again.

Roughly how much was this for you? I'm trying to compare DIY pricing to a florist.

    Best wishes to you.

I'm a floral designer with 28 years experience. For that many flowers, yes, I would have charged $8k. So, yes, you are saving the $6k in labor, skill, and knowledge. And frankly - even I don't want the stress of that many flowers - I do weddings that are generally in the $1500-$2k range.

I hope you will get a manicure after you're done...my hands get full of rose thorn holes, and end up black and sappy.

I hope that you don't want to entertain friends and family for the three days before your wedding. You'll be busy de-thorning all those roses!

Sometimes, I am up until the wee hours of the morning of the wedding finishing up perfect touches.

As Centerpiece mentioned - hydrangeas are EXTREMELY touchy and you have to know how to keep them from wilting, and how to revive them.

You know that Bells are phototropic, yes?

I hope you know how to do the mechanics of the tall centerpieces, so that they don't topple, and so that no florist foam or other mechanics show. Even I have to sometimes ask my florist friends for techniques.

I really hope that your back and feet won't hurt for standing for that many hours!

And - thank goodness it's not summertime and you don't have to worry about wilting with no floral refrigerators! Do be careful of freezing though, don't put bouts or corsages or bouquets in your home refrigerator (think about icy milk...when petals freeze, they turn to mush, there is no hope). Hopefully no snow where you are, yes?

Best wishes, I wish you well. Make sure we see photos! You are taking on a bigger project than even I would!! Smiley smile

BTW - not anti-DIY here, I teach DIY classes. Just a warning for others that want to go that big. It's a LOT, LOT of work! And takes skill and knowledge.
