It's nice that you found something that could develop into a livelihood. Now focus on getting your education. Having seen your pieces, I have an excellent idea of exactly what you were going for and why your pro quote was as high as it was.

Everything sounds great, but your last post confuses me -- the one in which you claim you put your bridal bouquet together an hour before your wedding. You meant to say that you added the hanging dendros to an existing bouquet, right? I say that because you already told us that you ordered the white wedding collection (and the bouquet, as shown in your photo, is exactly what is included in their white wedding collection, minus the dendros).

Best of luck to you in your newly discovered career, and honestly, the best advice I can give you is to start soliciting information from reputable wholesalers around the country that will teach you the basics of names, colors, pricing, seasonal restrictions, etc.

@Centerpiece yes - it originally looked like the one here. What I did was took it completely apart, added orchids, hydrangea pieces, and extra roses, and rearranged it into a foam bouquet holder.

When I posted I was rooting for you, I meant it. But in my head I was saying, "this chick is batshit crazy and out of her goddamn mind to do this a few days before her wedding. They won't look THAT good. She better come back here and deliver some flower slayage."

Look, I'm not a pro-florist, but these look like the centerpieces I wanted from my florist that has been in business for quite some time, (not to mention, I can't afford them). Will I be calling my florist and telling them I'm going to go your route? Nope, because I'm lazy AF. But I think these look fantastic and I would have never known that they were DIY.

    To me, they are beautiful!

Three years later and your post is still making an impact! I have officially decided to create my own flowers. I have nine months, and will take the time to thoroughly research and prepare based on your advice. I will likely not be doing centerpieces, just the basic bouquets, boutonnieres, etc. so it is much less of an undertaking than you! I am a crafty person by nature, and I can foresee myself enjoying and relaxing in the days before my wedding by expressing my artistic side (something I don't get to do often enough in my work). Your flowers looked beautiful. The comments from a certain group of posters on here were shocking to me!

P.s. When I was shopping for photographers, I had someone send me a quote and I politely thanked him and let him know it was just out of our budget. I thought it would be left at that. He asked what my budget was, and I told him, and he proceeded to tell me that unless I tripled my budget I would be disappointed by my pictures for the rest of my life. What a jerk thing to say. And just plain wrong as well. I am all for people charging for their personal artistic talent, but sometimes vendors forget that different people have different priorities and they don't need to judge/insult brides-to-be because of that. That vendor is not the only thing the couple needs to pay for, and weddings are astronomically expensive. Even if flowers, or photos, are not "up to the standards" of a highly-trained professional, there is a 99% chance that none of your guests are going to notice a difference. Most regular people just don't. I think it's a safe bet that they care way more about the open bar and music than they do about the flowers!

Great job, can't wait to do my own!
