Untraditional Wedding Ideas

Oh I love this!! I’ve been trying to find a thread about non-traditional dresses and weddings. Do you have a pic of the dress you’re looking at? Have you come up with other ideas to make your wedding more “you”?


I’m trying to figure out how to make a green dress work. It’s my absolute favorite color and it’s an outdoor ceremony and I love nature. We are planning to incorporate our personalities and ourselves into the wedding as well. We are both kinda nerds (superheros, board games, books, etc) and are planning to work those into the wedding. We’ve already picked our color scheme to match us - navy blue, burgundy, and emerald green. Hence my conundrum of the wedding dress color. Guys will all be in navy blue with burgundy accents, girls will all be wearing burgundy. So I don’t know if it’ll look good with me being in green or not.

We are just starting to plan but we already know that our wedding is going to be extremely non-traditional.

Ours will be missing lots of traditional things. No wedding party, no toasts, no first dance, etc.

Wedding traditions change day by day. We're calling our wedding "tradition with a twist". There were several traditions that we knew we wanted to keep: first dance, father-daughter and mother-son dances, the attire, etc. However, we've been to plenty of weddings that didn't quite fit the mold, and they were just as fun! The point is to do what YOU want, not what you think society wants.

This is my current top choice. Im still debating about 2 others. We are doing a color scheme of sapphire blue, glitter/gold, and white. We are still trying to come up with the rest but it is still going.....

We are forgoing the tuxes and suits my groom and his groomsmen are in jeans vests ties, we are having bbq and dessert bar

I'm getting married on Halloween, my dress is ivory with gold glitter, I'm completely obsessed. Instead of a veil, I'm doing a cool rose gold/copper/gold headpiece with a flower design. The ceremony will be on the porch of an 1890s historic house in an amazing Historic Village beside a lake. My bridal party and I are cutting our own sunflower and zinnia bouquets the day before!
