Uneven wedding party

Kelley, on February 10, 2012 at 10:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Is anyone having or have had more bridesmaids than groomsmen? Any thoughts on how this will look in pics?

We might be, depending on if FH asks one more guy to be in it or not. (They aren't really that close anymore) Surprisingly, FH cares more about it being even than I do haha. I think it'll look good either way though Smiley smile

I cared a lot in the beginning but not as much now. I've seen it at weddings and never thought anything of it. But for mine it's differentSmiley smile. I'm stressing the head table seating and how pics would look.

Don't even get me started on seating! Haha. I'm not doing assigned seats, but assigned tables. I know I'm not going to know who's going to be there for a while but I'm just trying to imagine who would sit by who if the people I expect to come actually came. It's a pain.

    No, it really doesn't matter.

Also, you're getting married. You'll share a great day with those you love to celebrate an important milestone. I really doubt you will look back at it and say, *man, I wish I had an even number of people in the WP*.

When my brother remarried, there were four GM (his sons) and one BM (his wife's daughter). And it was fine. Have the people you are close to up there, and don't worry about balancing the numbers.

Not at all. We have 6 BMs and 8 GM. A good photographer knows how to make it look natural. As for seating, just don't do a head table if you're worried about it. I personally don't like head tables, so we are having a sweetheart table and then just reserving tables for immediate family and the WP.

Even numbers is not important at all. Why would you ask someone to be up there just to make it even? Or leave someone out just to have even numbers? Picking the members of your wedding party is very important and depends on a lot of factors...making it even is NOT one of them. Being in the WP is an honor, and like I said before, do you really want to give someone that honor who only "got" it to make your numbers even? Do you want to let your close friend sit down in the second row because you couldn't handle that extra girl? Processionals can be a challenge (ours is a little complicated), but a good DOC knows how to make it look right.

At the moment we have 3 bridesmaids, 1 best man, 1 groomsman, and two dogs. It may change slightly (we are both considering adding one more person into our bridal party on each side and I may make one bridesmaid MOH)

I would not worry about even numbers at all. Our party is even but it's by accident, and it's sort of uneven b/c my brother is my man of honor. So, it's not like he and the best man are going to walk up/down the aisle holding on to each other. Smiley smile

We're also doing a sweetheart table and letting our WP members sit with their dates and friends.

Pics will look great. Any decent photographer will arrange people so the composition looks fabulous.

Don't stress! Just ask the people you want to ask, and it will all work out.
