umm where will people go to the bathroom

justine, on May 15, 2012 at 4:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

So because you ladies are so wonderful i started putting together many inspiration boards so that i can figure out what idea's i like the best...YAY FOR YOU GUYS FOR HELPING...

here is my question... as im putting these together and collecting ideas i had a thought.

umm if i have an out door wedding for 150 people, where will every one go to the bathroom? can i get porta potties? what if some one has to much to drink and thinks it will be funny to tip them over?

this isnt a topic i've ever even concidered. or read about...

this goes on the idea that your venue doesnt have enough washrooms for the 100 people. I no i have time thats not the problem im just ... baffled in the bathroom department

Thats a tricky one. I am doing my wedding at a local park, thankfully my venue has indoor potty rooms, i couldnt imagine trying to go potty in my dress in a porta pot.

HI- My venue required that we get 2 porta potties on top of bathrooms in the venue. They have one stall women’s and one men’s inside and then we will have two outside. I am sorry but if anyone tips these over they will not be included in future plans... that would just be weird and gross. The thing that works great for our wedding is we have casual picnic attire so people should be okay in their attire...

You are so cute... these are little details that you don't have to focus on now. If you google "wedding port-a-potty" you will see that people do rent them and even decorate the inside and outside to match the wedding decor.

Try looking at the bigger picture for at least the next few months or you'll make yourself crazy Smiley smile

Even if you have an outdoor wedding, unless you or someone you know owns the property, you will be required by law to provide bathroom facilities.

For my cities park areas, I think its 1 portapotty per every 50 people.. i think..

You do pay for the space, public or not, and you may have to get a permit. It's usually cheaper than most other places. My city has preferred vendors & that is what made it more expensive for our guest count.

Also there are is a wide variety of port a potties. They actually do have luxuray one's with vanities & sitting areas etc. It's what you pay for. Your responsible for what happens to the property & the property that it's on. Your contracts will explain that in detail. Be sure to read it all before signing anything.

O god...didnt even think of the dress situation... who would have thought a major choice in venue picking would come down to where its easiest to pee.

its is tricky! and the more i think about it the more i think its kind of a deal breaker

Typically outdoor venues that let you rent a space for your wedding/reception will have some sort of facilities that you can use. I would only worry about this if you are having your wedding in someones back yard.

And since you are still hunting for venues, ASK then what the facilities are. Dont freak out about port-a-potties until you book your venue.

We're having an outdoor recpetion in our backyard and we're jsut letting the people use the two bathrooms in the house. We've considered though, getting a porta potty for the guys and allowing the girls to use the indoor bathrooms.

I'm looking at an outdoor venue with no facilities but the caterer listed "light grey flushable portable restrooms" in a sample quote she gave me. I'm kinda curious what that is / looks like. I guess I'll find out next week when I meet with the caterer / look at the venues.

You can get some really nice porta potties. I have been in some before that were super fancy and NICE. They were really big too.

I went to an outdoor wedding that had porta-potties. They were the fancy ones that Nickiya mentioned. They were lit, very clean and even had sinks! They were not at all gross, and none of the guests felt compelled to tip them over.

I've been to a local music festival with over 10,000 people and a beer garden and in the over 10 years of going to it no one has tipped over a porta-potty. I think you'll be ok in that regard.

I needed to check into this last month for my wedding. The really nice trailer restrooms run about $1800-$2100. The event port-a-potties run $135-$185. I was told that the event ones are bigger than the ones you find at a contruction site. Another thing one of the vendors brought up, is if your reception is at night, you'll need some kind of battery operated light, because it's dark in there.

@Jen - I agree, porta potties are pretty gross. So unless you can find some really top of the line port-a potties I would pass
