taaaaaaaaaacky!!!!

LadyCrystal, on July 3, 2013 at 9:45 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 79

FH's cousin (who got engaged a couple of months after we did) sent us a save the date a few months ago with just FH's name on it (we live together), I thought it was tacky but i said w.e., we've only met 1 or 2 times. Originally, they weren't going to be invited to ours since we've never met her & he speaks to FH once every couple of years. To be polite, we sent them a save the date back with both his & his fiancee's name back in March.

Yesterday, I check the mail & we get a wedding invitation from them that says FH's name (spelled incorrectly) & guest. When we opened the invitation, it says *NO CHILDREN, MONENTARY GIFTS ONLY* spelled MONENTARY.

Needless to say I was insulted because 2 times you failed to put my name on the invitation(FH thinks that it wasn't intentional), you spelled FH's name wrong & you DEMAND money? WTF? Now we have no intentions of going 2 theirs but don't know what to do about inviting them to ours.

Not cute. Anyone else got stories like this?

HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! How.... scatalogical! (Synonym for tacky - I had to look it up) I can't help but laugh. So give them $20. I mean it's expected that cash be given at a wedding, but to downright DEMAND IT. HAHAHAHAHAH!! Aww girl, welcome to the famdamnily.

Is it also in all caps like you write it here? Because then, they're yelling at you too.

    GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEYSSSSS

Didn't you say you already sent them a save the date? If you did that would be even more tacky to not send them an invite. I dont think leaving your name off the invitation was ment to hurt you, I know I'm writing "& guest" alot on ,mine.

Confession time: I know of at least 3 invitations on which I misspelled the guest's name, but that's because FMIL gave me the wrong spelling. They all wrote the correct spelling on the RSVP and then I felt like an idiot.

I think since you send a STD then they should get an invites but chances are if you decline to their wedding they will decline to yours.

Amanda I'm right there with you!! FMIL gave me addresses with just the name of the road...no house number, addresses with misspelled names, etc. It's a disaster but I honestly don't care. I asked her to proof it and she didn't. If you want them to get the invitation - give me the right address!!

Omg.. How horrible.... spelling-okay I confessed.. When I decided to address my own STDs it wasnt the best.. I wrote on one Mr. & Mrs. MONIQUE ______ OMG!!! How embarrassing! And that is why I decided to find an invite designer!!!! lol. But that sucks.. Im sorrry.. really really rude!!

Oh, and as for funny invite stories.. I got an invite for a wedding a couple months back, they were nice invites, until she decided to in messy writing write "Please, nobody wear white. I am the bride. I should only wear white" and "Registered at Target, but money or giftcards preferred". Ummmm... Yeah.. I didnt go. Not because of that, but because we werent in town the weekend of her wedding.

@Amanda yes!! It was in all caps. I felt like I was being yelled at.

@Rev. Ann I don't even want to give them a penny now smh

@Archer & @Amanda my name is Ashley. The cousin txt him and asked him how to spell it & for our address. Our save the date was a Magnet that said Tony and Ashley LOL but even past that, how do you spell your own last name wrong?

@IrishLove & @Archer I feel like they want us to come to theirs for the money and they would come to ours for the free food

and @MrsO ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL @ Monopoly Money!!!!!!!! I'm tempted to give them a $2 bill

I misspelled a ton of invites... also wasn't my fault, and I had like 13 returned to me because MIL didn't put the ST on the list... like 219 Rich (ST) I was so pissed about the stamp I used to mail it! haha gimme my 46 cents!!

Who cares if you sent them a STD, you could always say there invite got lost in the mail! haha

So many funny things in this post. Some people just don't know any better and if they can't spell then I'm not surprised. It sounds like they're inviting you all for the money only anyway.

I'm just trying to understand how that works either way. Ok, you couldn't remember my name, fine. But my FH's last name is the same as your FH. How in the hell do you get that wrong?

I'm a pretty blunt person, but don't think I would ever say "monetary gifts only". There is a better way to word it if you're going to go there.

I don't know if I'd call them tacky (maybe because I hate that word), let's just say socially inept. Lol!!!
