FH's cousin (who got engaged a couple of months after we did) sent us a save the date a few months ago with just FH's name on it (we live together), I thought it was tacky but i said w.e., we've only met 1 or 2 times. Originally, they weren't going to be invited to ours since we've never met her & he speaks to FH once every couple of years. To be polite, we sent them a save the date back with both his & his fiancee's name back in March.

Yesterday, I check the mail & we get a wedding invitation from them that says FH's name (spelled incorrectly) & guest. When we opened the invitation, it says *NO CHILDREN, MONENTARY GIFTS ONLY* spelled MONENTARY.

Needless to say I was insulted because 2 times you failed to put my name on the invitation(FH thinks that it wasn't intentional), you spelled FH's name wrong & you DEMAND money? WTF? Now we have no intentions of going 2 theirs but don't know what to do about inviting them to ours.

Not cute. Anyone else got stories like this?

    Geez, people are just nutty. I wouldn't go and just ignore the whole dang wedding. I would seriously contemplate sending an invite. I have a few of FH's family members who I don't want to invite now after sending them STD's. It sucks! I really wish I didn't send out STD's. LOL

    The and guest thing pisses me off too. I've had it done to me after receiving a shower invitation in my name. I think some people consider it to be proper etiquette? I'd still send them an invitation to yours, they probably won't go if you don't go to theirs.

    @Heather the funny part is I am waiting to hear what FMIL has to say about the invitations, the cousin is moving into their empty house for free with the fiancee & her son. I wonder if he got their names wrong.

    @DLovesD when we send out the invitations, it will be before their wedding date which is at the end of september so I am not obligated to refer to her as anything other than guest or if i'm feeling generous her maiden name.

    The Office meant so much to my fiance and me. We are re-watching the entire series on DVD! I knew I liked you ladies for a reason!

    @mc4dj - it's spelled "gauche" - it's French. Sorry, I'm an editor and couldn't let it pass. :-)

    I confess I spelt a few names wrong. One couple just put their correct spelling back on the rsvp, and the other, sent me an email telling me that I spelt her name wrong, how it should be spelt and they hope it would be corrected by the wedding. I felt like such an idiot. And I got called out for it. FH was a bit embarrased his family member did that.

    If you have any foreign coins give them that money.

    I'll admit, some of our STD's had wrong spellings (FH's grandparents, FH's co-worker), but at the end of the day - it was HIS FAULT for not spellchecking properly. No one was hurt and it was corrected for the invites.

    But WOW that is just wow!!!!!! I can't believe that!

    They should have used spell check but you would think that on his own name, they'd get it right.

    And I have to make a confession, I called their place to find out how much it would cost per person to send a check around that amount. Found out they are having a wedding they can't afford with a minimum of 150 guests. They are in waaaaaaaay over their heads. No wonder they were rude enough to demand money.

    Alisa S- Thank you for clarifying the spelling of gauche! I couldn't find it on the list of synonyms for "tacky" so i just winged it. I bet that reading web forums drives you crazy! It bothers me most of all when people use horrible punctuation. I have a "friend" on FB who writes long, rambling posts and never uses periods!!!! I scroll past her posts so because I cannot bare to see the sight of her horrible grammar.
