I hear you on that! My husband and I loved our sweetheart table for that reason. We got to enjoy that time together before getting pulled away to do photos/video, greeting friends and family, dancing, etc. Since you'll be spending so much time apart before the wedding, getting to take a few moments during dinner to spend with just each other will be nice.

Both are great reasons to choose a sweetheart table! It's so considerate of you to make sure your wedding party gets to sit with their loved ones during dinner.
We’re doing a head table or “kings” table. We don’t want to feel like we’re being watched while we eat! We also want to make sure to eat. And we have a small-ish wedding party. This was the best choice for us. ☺️

I recommend putting a few extra tables and chairs out if you're not planning on doing a seating chart. People do not typically seat themselves efficiently, so the extra tables should help prevent situations such as couples having to sit at separate tables since there weren't any more tables with two open seats, or your grandma ending up at the table with your partner's college friends because the table with her family members filled up too quick. There would be some tables with empty seats, but that's better than someone getting stuck at a table where they know no one just because it was the last open seat.
We had a small (40 person) destination wedding. It was important to us to have something small and intimate, where we could spend ample time with all our guests, and everyone would feel like family. So we chose to have one long table for everyone.

Awesome! Head tables are a great way to spend time with your wedding party. Will you be seating the plus ones of the wedding party members at the head table as well? Or will they be seated among the rest of the guests?
