Are you including something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue in your wedding day?
Yes. Something old is the venue. It was built in 1875. New Is the dress. Blue is my garter. Borrowed is something so special to me. They are a pair of my grandmas pearl and diamond earrings. She passed away about 8 years ago and I didnt handle it very well. My earrings broke during my hair trial and my mom said she just emptied her safety deposit box and she would check in there for some earrings. She found my grandmas. I know it's just something little but to me it's a huge thing. They match my necklace, hairpiece and dress and are stunning.
Yes I am! And I love the idea of the blue ring box, I haven't thought about that. But i'm going to use one of my grandmothers pins for my something old, a garter for my something blue and my sisters hair piece or veil for my something borrowed!
I have something new and something blue but need something borrowed and old still! I think I know I'll get the hand-me-down handkerchief that every women in my dad's family has used on their wedding day to hold their bouquet or put inside the top of their dress for the ceremony. I'm so excited to see who gives it to me at my bridal shower and I KNOW I'm going to bawl my eyes out. My great grandma made it and she, nor my grandma is with us anymore.
I am. I think it’s a good way to include various things from my family. My something old is my mom’s old veil because my grandma kept it. Something new is the dress my grandma is making me. Something borrowed is gonna be one of the necklaces my grandma has that belonged to her mom, and my something blue is my bouquet haha.
All of this kind of happened without planning it. My something borrowed is my sister-in-law’s veil, something new is my dress, and for something blue I have blue berries in my bouquet. Just need to find something old!
I won't be stressing about this. My mom thinks I should be following this, but I'm going to ask her to help me with other things to keep her mind busy, if she'd like, y'know. It might happen, it might not. But I'm not planning on this at all, and honestly don't mind skipping this one, since I seem to follow tradition more often than not.
My old is my dress - it was my Grandma's (dad's mom) and designed and sewn for her by her MIL
My new is ? Havent figured this one out yet! But I will need to buy something I'm sure
My borrowed will be a piece of jewelry from my mom's collection. I told her to pick something that goes with the dress and surprise me with it that morning - just tell me what I dont need to figure out ahead (necklace vs earrings etc)
My blue is an aquamarine brooch that I inherited, it has been in Mom's family since around the Civil War if not before.
Old: Fiancée's wedding ring is an old ring of her mother's. I already have several white shirts so I will probably just wear one of those with my suit.
New: Literally everything else.
Borrowed: Uhh... the groomsmen's suits will be rented?
Blue: The ocean, which we can see from both our ceremony and reception sites.
